TO MARRY OR STAY SINGLE?

It is good for a man not to touch a woman. But because of immoralities, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband. Let the husband fulfill his duty to his wife, and likewise also the wife to her hub=sband. But this I say by way of concession, not of command. 1 Corinthians 7:1-3, 6

Paul, a single man, was convinced his marital state enhanced his service to God. He could travel whenever God called him to go, without worrying about a family in tow. By his own admission, the advice he gives here to those in the church is merely a suggestion. Paul is by no means advocating that all who enter God's service should adhere to a vow of living a solitary life. "Yet I wish that all men were even as I myself am. However, each man has his own gift from God, one in this manner, and another in that" 1 Corinthians 7:7

Paul's admonitions were those already involved in helping to build God's church. Better than most, Paul knew the hardships which were ahead for all who put their lives on the line that the Gospel might go forward.

If a woman can best serve God as a part of a married couple, then the Lord will provide the mate she seeks. And all the give and take which is required will be by mutual consent and respect.

PRAYER----Single or married, show me how to make a difference, Lord.
