MICAH KNEW HIS GOD

The word of the Lord which came to Micah....Hear, O peoples, all of you; Listen O earth and all it contains, and let the Lord GOD be a witness against you, The Lord from His holy temple. For behold, the Lord is coming forth from His place. He will come down and tread on the high places of the earth. Micah 1:1-3

Micah understood the Lord's awesome power. In fact, Micah's name means, "who is like Jehovah," forever reminding us that he understood the object of his faith. God used Micah to prophecy to the southern kingdom of Judah.

God's revelation to man was progressive. That's why it's so important to read the entire Bible, as each prophet unfolds another piece of God's end-time mystery. The events recorded in Micah would be fulfilled in the near and far-distant future.

"The mountains will melt under Him, and the valleys will be split, like wax before the fire, like water poured down a steep place. All this is for the rebellion of Jacob and for the sins of the house of Israel...For I will make Samaria a heap of ruins in the open country, planting places for a vineyard. I will pour her stones down into the valley, and will lay bare her foundations" Micah 1:4-6

Why was God doing this to His people? Both Judah and Israel had forsaken their God, becoming steeped in idolatry.

PRAYER---- Lord, keep me from following in the footsteps of the rebellious that I might not require bitter lessons of truth.
