THE CONTENT OF OUR THOUGHTS
Woe to those who scheme iniquity, who work out evil on their beds! When morning comes, they do it, for it is in the power of their hands. They covet fields and then seize the, and houses, and take them away. They rob a man and his house, a man and his inheritance. Micah 2:1-2
Micah acknowledges that the source of evilthoughts is in the human mind. Other portions of scripture also bear out this truth.
"Transgression speaks to the ungodly within his heart; There is no fear of God before his eyes. For it flatters him in his own eyes, concerning the discovery of his iniquity and the hatred of it. The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit; He has ceased to be wise and do good. He plans wickedness upon his bed; He sets himself on a path that is not good; He does not despise evil" Psalm 36:1-4
Therein lies the problem, that we at some point begin to accept wickedness as good. And the things we devise in our minds then become the vehicle for our actions.
Part and parcel of idolatrous worship, for which Israel as a nation assumed guilt before God, was that of human sacrifice to pagan gods. Can you understand why this sin was so detestable to the Lord?
PRAYER----Lord, guard my mind from evil that I might not ruminate on such things and be propelled into ungodly actions. Instead, let me turn to Your Word which acts as a cleansing agent.
