Maintaining for two weeks
Fivepts

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice. I seem to be stuck. I lost about 3 lbs my first week doing MFP and the last two weeks I haven't lost anything. I have even gained a couple of lbs. I'm eating almost no sugar, or flour and staying below my Calorie requirement. I am "eating back" the calories from exercise. I understand that it's a plateau but how long do they typically last? I'm probably drinking half as much water as I should some days. I've also done my measurements and I think I've lost about .5 in but even that depends on how tight I pull the tape....

Congratulaions on the five pounds you've lost!
RE: non-downward trends. For me it was about accepting that this was going to take a while. I found that some weeks were better than others and that certain things made the process a lot easier. Best thing I did was make a long term goal - 25 lbs in 10 months. That would average 2.5 lbs per month; mentally that seemed easy enough and took the immediate pressure and anxiety off (though at the end of my 10 months was a reunion, so I had a distinct purpose, too). It also kept me focused on the big picture so any missteps could be easily mitigated the next week; plateaus (and teh occasional increase) became less worrisome with that recognition, too.
Another was (and still is) the acknowledgement that things happen: social events, life events, the times when I weighed myself (the clock as well as the calendar), our age, etc. So if one of the things happen and I missed opportunities, I wince, dust off and got back on track. Anything less that forgiving myself and moving on wears away at what I have worked to accomplish, and I am not having that!
Good for you for getting started! Keep your chin up and you will do wonders!0 -
