I'm curious to know if this happens to others, or if it's just me.
In regards to online dating specifically ... you start talking to someone on the dating site, switch to texting and talking on the phone, exchange more pictures so you both know what the other looks like ... there is a definite connection and then you plan to meet. Said meeting happens and then poof.
I'm curious to know why this happens. If you have spent time getting to know each other via email, txt, phone calls, and both parties know what the other looks like, why the poof? Is it strictly a physical thing at that point or what is the reasoning?

The last one I dated did that. Supposed to have our third date, and talking on and off for over a month, 3 weeks straight though. We confirmed on Thursday that we would go out Saturday night for dinner. I texted her once Fri, twice Sat, nothing, last text from her was a smilie face on the Thursday after confirming the date.0

That's the intangible piece of relationships. Just because someone is attractive or you like their humor (i.e. good on paper) doesn't mean you'll be a match.0

Poofing after a first date from online dating is normal. If they or you don't feel the connection in person they just decide to end it. Some people want to know why and some people don't. A lot of people after only 1 date, especially from on-line, don't think they need there needs to be a discussion on why they don't want to continue seeing someone.0

If I poof after 1st date it means I didn't feel it in person. I've done it several times, we got along great before that but once in person they might not look like their pictures, they might have been awkward.. Etc. it happens!!0

I don't usually poof after first date even if it was bad.......I would at least let the person know. Even the guy I met that had no front teeth when we actually met---I told him I did not think there was a romantic connection. But....I have been poofed on before, and strangely enough ( I guess) is not usually after 1st date--usualy 2nd then poof. Or in most recent case....was 2 months, seeing each other a handful of times, decided not to see others (because neither of us are multi-daters), and then taked to him on Sat. night, and never heard from him after that..............0

He's just not that into you, or vice versa
Things may be great when texting/talking on the phone, but then when they meet IRL, the connection isn't there. Nothing wrong with that...0 -

This.....well either this or the pictures that you exchanged ahead of time were not an accurate representation of what you really look like.0 -
Lack of junk pictures?

ARE YOU NOT GETTING THEM???!0 -
It's either something physically not right (that could be anything from crooked teeth to didn't like the way you laugh!). Or it's something that is said during the course of the date the other person thinks will be a deal breaker.
We had a program on here (UK) recently which covered random 1st dates. And it was really quite interesting how couples went from fancying each other at first glance, to almost killing each other by the end of the date!! Obviously on tv, the feelings were demonstrated a lot more than they would be in real life, and they were interviewed after. But I'm guessing if you ask the poofer they would have a reason.0 -

This one has been beaten to death on the SP board.
Everyone has their own opinion, and what everyone will do/find acceptable varies so much.
I personally feel poofing after date 1 is ok and common..... but MOE AFTER 2 MONTHS IS RIDICULOUS!!!!0
