What does everyone have for a pre and post workout meal? and do any of you take a pre-workout suppliment?

My training is usually at 10am , so my preworkout meal is my breakfast i try and have it completely eaten by 9am. Oatmeal , 1/2 scoop protein powder, half banana , coffee and water. Post workout i have the other half banana, a whole grain cracker and 2 tsb peanut butter.

i haven't taken any preworkout suppliments, except for coffee yay i love my coffee and usually drink it during my workout for a blast of caffeine when necessary. I keep getting preworkout samples and i'm not sure if i should try them or not?

I usually lift at 5 pm on Monday and Wednesday and haven't figured it out yet. I was thinking about making a banana, almond butter, protein powder, and creatine smoothie and drinking half before and half after my workout. On Saturdays I lift first thing in the morning, so that'll be easier to do the same.

I've never taken a pre workout supplement.....TBH, they kind of make me nervous. I am a big coffee drinker, so that's usually my pre workout hype ;)
I also work out around 9:30 - 10 am so I have breakfast before. Now that I'm bulking, I'm trying to add quite a bit more carbs to my breakfast to help fuel my workouts. Lately, it's been oatmeal (with protein powder) or a bagel/cream cheese usually with eggs.

Post workout is almost always the same....quest bar and a banana. The banana helps replenish my sugar/glycogen stores that are usually depleted (especially after leg day) and helps keep the shaky/queasy feeling away if I push real hard. I also usually have another cup of coffee post workout.

I'm a coffee queen- so taking a pre-workout supp would probably turn me into a crazy woman. :) Coffee does the trick! Plus, I am hyper-sensitive to most medications, I can't even take advil without feeling a buzz- what?? So, I would personally pass- but, I know plenty of people who have taken them with no problems.

I also work out in the AM so I usually eat breakfast and then get to it once my food settles a bit. I usually have my typical bacon, eggs & broccoli with a side of berries but lately I've been exchanging that for some paleo pumpkin pancakes that are to die for. Post workout, I usually mix a scoop of protein powder with some cooled coffee and I'm good to go.

I usually train fasted with just a BCAA drink before and during, then follow my workout with a protein shake and a simple carb. Usually I just do a smoothie with some frozen fruit, water or coconut water, and protein powder.

Yogaga, do you mind sharing your pancake recipe? I've made some but would love to see your recipe. :)

It varies bc one week I lift at 5 am and the other is mid morning to mid afternoon but preworkout is always coffee and 50-60g of carbs with small amount of fats and about 20-25g protein. My go to is 2 pieces whole wheat toast, 2 eggs and a banana or Oatmeal with raisins and egg white (4) scramble with veggies. Post workout is usually protein shake with fast acting carb such as an apple, banana or Poptart. Use to do C4 but found lotsa carbs and coffee to be the best combo. For my early wo sometimes I don't have time to eat a lot so I make sure I eat a carb heavy meal before bed, but then again carbs are good to me and I don't limit them like some do. Preworkouts are not neccessary and I fell into that trap once too. Food is your best fuel.

I alternate between dawn-break workouts and mid-morning days. On my early workout days, I lift fasted and just have my BCAA drink during my workout. Afterwards, I have my usual breakfast of a protein shake (just protein powder and water), egg whites, and a slice of Ezekiel toast with some kind of nut butter (almond, peanut, or sunflower).

My mid-morning workouts are around 9:30, and on those days I eat my egg-whites and peanut butter&toast at around 8am. Then I have my protein shake immediately after along with a serving of berries.

I used to drink my coffee before & during my workout, but I've gone caffeine-free this month in an effort to stabilize my energy levels bc I was crashing so hard in the afternoons. I've never tried a pre-workout powder, they kinda scare me! I'm also really sensitive to medications and supplements, so I imagine I'd be pushed over the edge by something strong like a pre-workout LOL

I'm not sure I'll change much about this routine when I start my bulk, I'll just increase the amounts of food. One thing I'll definitely add is some berries after I lift everyday. I've had to nix that while cutting to get my calories down, but I know the sugars in the berries are a great thing to have right after lifting.

I workout first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. Afterwards around 7.00 I have a protein shake and multi vitamin. My breakfast I have around 9.30 when I'm at work.
