Get this...

So today I went to a coached posing practice. A male trainer in town (not my coach) runs them and he's really good, I've found them very helpful and the guy is really knowledgable. He's obviously a bodybuilder based on his appearance, and I know he competes. Anyhow, I am by far the most muscular girl in the group, for better or for worse. We got onto the subject of how a certain pose I was using was almost one you'd use in the figure division (it's by far the most flattering pose for me and he agreed it looked great and I should use it), but he started saying "Yeah we don't want to do figure poses! Don't do bodybuilding! No one here wants to look like that! Don't go to the dark side"....??? I made a short response of "Oh really? I'm already there, this is just a stop-over for me!" and left the subject alone. Does anyone else think it's strange that someone so involved in bodybuilding would be against women in the sport? I have every intention of building quite a bit more muscle, and hopefully competing in figure next year! I don't care what he thinks, I just thought it was a strange comment considering the person making it...

Aww, that sucks. Unfortunately, I think because it's not as common for women to want to reach the level past "bikini", these guys try to cater more towards that crowd as to not scare off their clientele. My sister is in the fitness industry and has been coaching for years. She adheres to the same hogwash- gave me a mouthful when I told her what my goals were.

Oh well! To each their own! Do what ya do girl!

That's definitely weird bc I know quite a few bodybuilders and those in the industry and if anything they encourage many women to NOT do bikini and aim higher. Bikini doesn't have a high level of respect among those in my area, no offense to anyone who wants to do it or aims for it there is just more to it than most think. Those around me are the most encouraging that it motivates me. I actually had a trainer tell my husband I could even do physique, but not sure I would want to go to that level. It just shows everyone is different and has different mindsets so you can't please everyone. Though IMO he probably shouldn't be a posing coach or prep coach for that matter if he is that against women competing or building muscle. Figure isn't even close to bodybuilding and he sounds ignorant and dumb.

Thats weird a body builder could'nt appreciate a girl wanting to body build. But guys are just weird, and some like their women squishy and whatever. My bf is a bodybuilder and does not like me having muscles, he is happiest when i'm about 180 , all round and in the kitchen cooking for him . He says "girls aren't supposed to have muscles" Guys are just weird.

I do think you're right that he's all sales-man, and is trying to appeal to the masses. Anything more muscular than bikini is no longer main-stream. But I donnot care LOL I am competing bikini right now bc that's all the muscle I've had time to build. Hopefully after this bulk I'll have enough mass for figure!!
