Winter running?

Here comes winter, my run on Friday was on a couple inches of snow- and 22 degrees F. It wasn't slippery, and the sun was shining, and the wind wasn't blowing, so it wasn't bad, but I can see I have many many more cold snowy runs ahead of me. So what do you do differently in the winter? Clothing recommendations? Shoes? Do you use yak trax or something to keep you from slipping?

I don't have sidewalks where I live-, so winter running will be on the road. I could maybe use the high school track sometimes, but would rather not.

I don't have to run on snow because I live in a big city that clears the streets and my local park really quickly so I don't need yak tracks but I love my buff like no other. Its light weight and can be used as a headband, hat, ear muffs, balakava, neck warmers all in one little piece of fabric.

there are lots of diffrent types but i have a half buff and an original buff and they are both warm enough for me. I run warm though so i heat up as I get moving and it might be colder where you live.

ETA: I also like mittens better than gloves as they keep my fingers warmer

Compression tights; compression long sleeve, fitted long sleeve, running jacket (layers determined by how cold it is) compression socks (same as for warm weather); UA winter hat; UA glove liners. That keeps me comfortable down into the upper teens, below that and I will need insulated compression tights. I wear the same running shoes and just take it easier when the roads are snow covered; in really icy weather I go to the gym..... I love cold weather running!

Thanks for the help! I have a muff similar to those buffs- hadnt thought about pulling it out to run with! On the lookout for some running tights, and mittens. Putting all this on my Christmas wish list...didn't think running was going to be an expensive hobby, lol. luckily the snow hasn't hit here at home yet, just at our cabin where we were for the weekend.

Ah, this is when I LOVE AZ. My weather related issues are June, July, & August. I have no idea what running in the conditions you described is like. The worst I've run in is 36 degrees & even that I did in shorts. Good luck!
