2. Bulk goal weight. 140 ish
3. Maintenance calories. Not sure if I ever figured that out , that is my delay in posting/starting
4. Bulk calories. 2600 for now. I gained 2 lbs. on a 2618 average the last two weeks. Will weigh in weekly now and adjust as needed. Would like to see 2700
5. Bulk goal duration. 5/6 months if I don't chicken out
6. Lifting program. On my sixth week of Stronglfts. Added Hip Thrust last week and plan to add more going into third month. No cardio for the last month but yoga three days and one rest day.
I'm doing this to see if I can grow an *kitten*

No worries! I started this group a couple of weeks before I actually started bulking. I think it takes a little time to get into the rigth mindset. We're here for you!0 -
Hi ladies,
I haven't posted for a month because I haven't been consistent with my logging and my weight fluctuations have been cray, cray. I had four hard core binges in the month of November but actually managed to log a couple. (If your wondering how,i just picked up the candy wrappers off the bedroom floor the next morning).
I have no idea what my average calories have been. When everything settled down I weighed in at 130.6 this past Saturday. I was thinking I didn't gain anything but looking at my first post this morning I see I gained a couple of pounds. I weighed in at 132.6 this morning but I don't believe it because I went out to dinner Saturday and Sunday plus there was Thursday.
I saw as high as 138 a couple of weeks ago.
I'm keeping my goal at 2600 for now but I seem to go over this at least once a week lately. Yay bulking!!
Started my tenth week of Stronglifts yesterday and I am still progressing. I thought about adding some hypertrophy soon but it's taking me over an hour to complete now with the added rest time between sets. I could drop to 3x5 to make up time and add more accessories work. What do you think? Is it necessary?
Keep on rockin ladies.0 -
Keep with 5x5 the way it's designed and once you're completely stalled, go on to 3x5 and add accessory work if you want. I wouldn't add it now--you're already working everything and spending a good chunk in the gym.
Binging is tough--I have issues with it too. One of the best things that has helped me is intermittent fasting (IF). IF isn't for everyone, but I seem to be able to control myself better when I know that I have an eating period between 10 am and 8 pm and that I can't eat outside of that.0 -
Thank you for your reply :-)
Will stick with 5x5.
Thanks for addressing my binges. IF wouldn't be for me,I tend to get mean when I don't eat every few hours. My nine year old has caught on enough to tell me to eat something when the crank sets in. I seem to have it under control now and it was the first since I started losing in March.
Thanks again0 -
Have you tried changing up your macros? I don't know what you're eating now, but I found that reducing my carbs and upping my fat intake really changed how my body processed food and how often I needed to eat. Just a thought0
-
I can't help it I love carbs :blushing: I just always make sure to have food with me if I feel the meanies coming on. That is something I will keep in mind for the future though just not this month. My son and I start baking next weekend. :drinker:0

I wouldn't suggest lowering carbs at all if you are trying to put on any measurable muscle mass. Your muscles need/use carbs for the fuel to work, recover and grow.
I also think it might be better to add a tad more volume that SS/SL has to grow muscles. I think changing to a 3x5 platform and adding in some assistance work in the hypertrophy range (6-12 reps) would be a good bet.0 -

That's why I'm carb-cycling now. When I cut I'm high fat, low carb...now I'm trying to add the carbs back in. I think I'm getting the hang of it.0 -
Yes, don't cut your carbs too low, you need them. I just try to get mine from lower glycemic index foods. I binge too. In fact, last night I ate one really large bowl (3-4 servings worth) of Cocoa krispies. I never eat cereal like that but my body was craving something bad and I gave it cereal.
We are all human and it's bound to happen, we just have to pick ourselves back up and keep moving forward. I actually like to think our bodies are often smarter than we are and finds ways to let us know if it needs something we aren't giving it. :drinker:0 -
Hope all of you are doing well.
I weighed in at 132.2 this morning so I am up 3.8 . A little a head of schedule but I'm fine with it. I brought my calories to 2700 around ten days ago. Lot's of yummy Christmas goodies this week. I may back off calories for a few days in anticipation for Tuesday night and an all day food fest Wednesday.
Will be taking the week off lifting. I plan to do mobility work, yoga and maybe some cardio.
I'm going to give P.H.U.L. a go starting next Sunday. I'll see what my body (recovery) makes of it.
I measured the other night and my thighs are up an inch (think saddlebags) but some of it is muscle. I do see a difference in the muscle. Hips are up 1/4". Not much fat there so that makes me happy. My waist is the same.
All in all I feel things are going good.
Good tidings and great joy to you and your family :drinker:0 -
Sounds like things are going really well Have a wonderful holiday and enjoy your foodfest :laugh:0

Looks like you are well on track! Happy holidays :flowerforyou:0

Great job and enjoy your holidays!0

My apologies for being M.I.A. Just realized I haven't checked in since Christmas.
I also just did some math and if the scale was right this morning I gained 7.9 since then :blushing:
I count my weigh in every other week. Two weeks ago I was 135.8 and two weeks prior I was 135. I seem to go the heaviest around ovulation so I really don't know what to believe. I'm definitely flabby in the saddlebags. Will not be measuring until March. I honestly don't want to know.
Lifts are going great. Will start maintenance on March 1 and then slowly cut. If we could only spot reduce.....:grumble:0 -
Great gains!0
-
Nice gains!!! I've been noticing my 'saddle bags' more too0
-
My apologies for being MIA. I'm going to go through threads the next few days......
Tonight is my last night of bulking. I took the week off logging and weighing myself.
Going into maintenance tomorrow. Will record my weight next Saturday.
Now I'm off to McDonald's and the Lego movie......and I'm not sharing my "buttered" popcorn!!0 -
How long have you been bulking?
I just concluded mine and will start cutting tomorrow.0 -
I've been bulking for 17 weeks. A week of this after New years I chilled to get a guess at real gains over the holiday. I have no idea how much I ate last week but an educated guess would put me at the same fluff of the holidays.
Scale said 142 this morning but I'm guessing it's a pound or so high.
So 12-13 pounds in 17 weeks.
How fast do you plan to cut?0
