Baby Number Two

Some advice from the mothers of two or more children...I have nine pounds to lose before I'm at my goal weight (I'm 5'7 & 149 lbs.). Should I reach my goal weight before I get pregnant a second time or should I just get pregnant now and lose everything afterwards?

Your weight now is just fine for your height, so go for it!0

First off, I think your weight is healthy for your height. Secondly, you look fantastic in your profile pic!
I think it depends on a lot of different things. If you stick to your calorie/exercise goal you could easily lose the 9lbs in a short amount of time and then get pregnant. If you decide to lose weight first, are you okay waiting 2-3 months before trying? Do you want a certain age gap between your kids? Are you aiming to have a baby at a certain time because of work, school, insurance, finances, etc? How will waiting (or not waiting) affect this?
I had JUST reached my goal weight when I got pregnant with my 1st baby. Part of me wanted to wait a while and enjoy being that size, but ultimately my age was the deciding factor. I'm not old, but we want to have 3 kids (*maybe* 4), and would like to be finished by the time I'm 35-ish because of the health risks that come up with "older" pregnant women, and we don't want to be retired and still have teenagers in the house!
We're (mostly me) are now debating when to go for number two (hubby is gung-ho, I'm undecided). My age is still the #1 factor, but age gap between our kids is a big one, how we will manage with two small kids and no family around to help, as is time of year because of the school system in our area. There's also the vanity side of things - I've been at my goal for several months, but there are still areas I want to improve before taking the plunge again - so I know where you're coming from!

I hit 153.8 (I'm also 5'7") a few months before getting pregnant. 135 was my ultimate goal weight (not sure if that was reasonable or not), but I knew if I waited to get there before getting pregnant with #2, the age gap would be bigger than we wanted, especially if it took more than a couple of months to get pregnant (thankfully I got pregnant on the second cycle, just like the first time).
Anyway, I unfortunately wasn't as careful as I should have been and gained way more than I wanted to, so I've got a lot to lose again. Oh, well.
Frankly I wouldn't worry so much about hitting goal but focus more on when you want to get pregnant and aim for that. You can always get to your goal weight after0
