Welcome 2014 Brides!

Hi ladies!

This is the first group I've started, so please help me make it something helpful and useful.

I'm getting married on the beach in Hawaii in Nov. 2014. I am really excited and also really wanting to feel like I look my best on that day.

I've been eating keto style this year -- and proud that I lost 25 lbs. But I really haven't been very focused since July; I've maintained, but have been off and on with my food and really fell way off the exercise wagon.

Two weeks ago I went dress shopping and bought my dress on my first day out! I'm getting back into the swing of things and want to remain committed.

If you join, please post a message in response to this topic to let me and everyone in the group know about your wedding plans and what you're doing to meet your goals.

    My wedding plans:

August 2014, outdoors, in a state park.

My goal: buff arms! I'm currently pretty much at goal weight. I don't want to have skinny arms, since I'll be in a strapless.

I've lost about 15 lbs, pretty much all of which I had packed on after graduating nursing school. Thankfully my natural curves are still intact.. I plan on wearing a mermaid gown and I want my arms to match the rest of me!

What I'm doing to reach my goal: a variety of things. And eating Paleo/Primal. Seriously makes my life so much easier.

I really love Bikram yoga, but unfortunately doing it in-studio is just not in my budget. I did get a 1-month unlimited pass for myself for my birthday this previous March, and it did wonders for me! So now I just do it here and there when I can.

My fiance just joined a chain gym that is literally within walking distance from my place, so I joined too. I was a competitive powerlifer in high school, and last night I got back under that squat bar and it felt AWESOME! So there will very likely be squats, deads, and benching in my near future.

I also love running. However, that didn't do much for me. It was after my last marathon last October that my appetite SOARED and I just went to town on the whole food front and packed on 10 of those extra 15#, so I've learned to keep running and the resultant appetite spikes to a minimum. Basically I just run the day before or day after wine night with the girls to take care of the inevitable calorie overages :-)

Excited to progress with you girls!!

Thanks for joining, RunningRichelle! I'll look forward to how things go with the powerlifting. It sounds like you know what you're doing, so you probably don't have to follow a designated program.

I am totally right there with you in terms of arms. I think I'd like to lose another ~10 lbs. but mostly I want to tone! I had good results with P90X a few years ago -- my arms were never more defined in my life. I'm doing that program again now, but it's only 3 months, so in early 2014 I'll see how the arms are shaping up ( ) and then figure out my next step from there. Maybe it'll be yoga...

    Hey everyone!

I'm getting married October 11, 2014 in South Florida. I don't have a venue yet, but hopefully will by the end of next week. I've only been engaged for 2 1/2 weeks, so I'm still in the beginning stages of planning.

I started my lifestyle change about 2 years ago and lost 40 lbs relatively easily. The past 6 months or so I've fallen off the wagon and gained a portion of it back. I don't stick to a particular diet, I tend to find the IIFYM works best for me, but I know everyone has their own way :)

In terms of exercise I'm restarting C25K (made it to the end of week 6 last time), and I want to run a 5k start to finish at some point before my wedding. I'm also doing NROLFW, which I also almost finished about a year ago.

Ultimately, I'd like to lose 40-50 lbs before my wedding, and then an additional 30 or so after that. I'm realistic enough to realize I'm not likely going to lose it all by next October.

I'm ready to get down to business and help support my fellow brides.!

cmp04d, welcome! It sounds like you've already come a long way -- I've also fallen off the past ~4 months, but I think breaks are good sometimes. That also gives you a chance to maintain for a while and maintenance is just as important as losing, IMO.

I was at a destination wedding in Belaire Beach (near Clearwater) in May. It was absolutely beautiful! We had so much fun.

NROLFW book has been sitting on my shelf for months. I am so lazy, I haven't read it yet. It is just so much easier to pop in a DVD and have Tony Horton or Jillian Michaels show me what to do. I am really curious about NROLFW, so report back once you start that.

And I love your realistic and positive approach -- that is so key and healthy!

    Hi ladies!

I am finally getting married October 11th, 2014! We have been together for 12 years now and decided that it was time. Lol. I have the dress and the location now everything else needs to fall into place.

I started this journey back in March at 163lbs and decided that I needed to do something about my unexpected weight gain. I have never needed to work out or watched what I ate until then. I log everything I eat/drink even if it is a bad day. I find that smaller portions are a great thing and I will never give up any food. Pizza, beer and ice cream can still be your best friend just don't eat the whole thing! I still don't really "workout" but get plenty of exercise running an indoor waterpark hotel and dancing all around my house while cleaning, cooking and just being bored. You can burn some good calories by putting them all together! Im trying to do some Jillian DVD's but haven't really kicked myself into gear to do the whole thing. Someday :)

My goal is to loose another 10lbs or so and then maintain it. I never want to go back to how I was 6 months ago. Best of luck to you all on your goals and on the wedding!

    CW 131lbs

Hi pugsleyjean, it looks like we have the same wedding date :). You're way ahead of me, the date is the only thing I have set. I'm going to scout some possible locations tomorrow, and have my first appointment at a dress shop tonight. Good luck on your journey!

    Hey ladies --

Sorry I haven't been more active here! I am probably not creative enough to make this a super active group -- but as long as that works for y'all it works for me!

We just sent out our save the dates! Super exciting.

I have been having a stressful few weeks (my boss gave his two weeks notice and I'm next in line to replace him, but it'll mean a lot more work and not more pay until review time, which is months away; plus, there's office drama as some people are jealous and acting out). I haven't been sticking with keto, but I also have only gained a few pounds, so glad to be mostly maintaining.

For me, it's especially unrealistic to expect to be too strict with myself food-wise during the holidays. Just too much going on and don't want to be too restrictive, so I'm planning to focus more on exercise till January.

Hope you all have a fantabulous Thanksgiving!

    Hi ladies!
My wedding is October 4, 2014! I will be shopping for dresses pretty soon here so it's time for me to kick it into high gear. I started this weightless journey 3 years ago after a bad depression caused me to gain 26 lbs. currently I'm down 13 and want to lose 8 more and tone up for my big day. One of the biggest reason I've lost weight and kept it off is my Jazzercise classes. They pack cardio and weightlifting all in one intense, effective work out. I work out between 3-5 times a week. Now I really need to get my eating in check. I eat pretty healthy for the most part but I could cut out wine and definitely work on portion control. Good luck everyone! Let's keep each other motivated to be our best selves as we enter a new stage in our lives!
