Pedicures and calluses

Do any of you prefer not to scrub your feet for the few weeks/months prior to a race so they are rougher?

I have done no googling on the topic and have no idea what the standard is. I read somewhere that calluses are useful for long runs and that this particular woman blogger did not have pretty feet as a result.

However I do have an event the same weekend as my half marathon and would love to have nice skin on my feet for wearing heels... so I need to choose :)

I get regular pedicures - and have no issues. I make sure to get one a week before the race, so I don't have toenail issues. You can always ask them not to work on your callouses....
