Spartan Sprint 2014 :)

Hey fellow Calgarians - the dates for the 2014 Spartan races in western Canada were just released. Looks like there will be two Spartan Sprints here in Calgary - one on Aug 16 and one on Aug 17: http://ca-en.spartanrace.com/events
It would be fun if we had a group of us that wanted to do the race together. I completed a Sprint here in the summer and it was really fun! There is also a Spartan Super in Red Deer in Sept that I'm thinking I might register for if anyone is interested in that distance as well

If a Spartan run is what I think it is, I would be interested. The word sprint scares me, but I will check it out
I kinda lacked on running this summer, but do love it.
Would also love to do another group for the zombie survivor if it comes back!0 -
Sprint refers to the distance and not to the speed that it's run at lol! Lots of people of all different fitness levels were racing when I did it this summer0

I want to do the Spartan Sprint, kind of sad I missed out on it this year. I just need to find some high monkey bars for practice. I have friends who did both the Sprint and the Super and they said the super in Red Deer was more fun, more people helping each other.0

I'm interested in doing the Spartan Sprint in Calgary.
Early bird pricing until January 1, 2014: http://ca-en.spartanrace.com/event-details-30
The obstacles, especially the upper body strength stuff, will be challenging for me...0 -
We should try and sign up for the same heat time - it's nice to have people to help you if you need it And, even if you miss an obstacle, you just have to do burpees instead (which isn't fun, but manageable lol).0

This race is fun too: http://www.mudhero.com/en-us/FindanEvent/Eventreddeer.aspx The obstacles were less physically challenging, but definitely got you dirtier lol!0

I would do either the mud hero in RD or the Spartan Sprint in Calgary (though not both, lol)....agreed with rjh1975's earlier post, the same wave & setting up sort kind of team for one of these races sounds like a good idea.0

Both look fun and a good challenge to work towards!
Calgary would obvisously be easier than Red Deer.
Anyone ready to sign up, and if yes what heat time? Just so we can start to put a team together.0 -
As Jenn said if you register by Jan 1/14 you get the early bird deal, but if we can get a team of 4+ we save $5 and if we get a team of 10+ we can save $10 -- so $45 each.
How should we go about getting this team together to get the best/cheapest rate?0 -
I agree that the morning for the Spartan is definitely better. I ran in the afternoon this past summer and everything is super slick with mud (which makes things like rope climbing way harder!)0
