Hello
I currently looking at setting up a workout station at home. Squat stands or rack, bench, barbell & weights
I've found an 6 ft olympic barbell on ebay, it mentions "revolving sleeves" are on the bar.
I'm not really sure what this means, could some please explain.
Thanks for reading.

that is a good thing! it means the ends with the weights on them spin freely, so if the weight is a bit unbalanced it can spin and find its level without twisting the bar in your hands0

Thank you Lwoodroff that's really helped.
I may be along to ask further questions if you don't mind.

check what the weight of the bar is as an 20kg/45lb Olympic bar is 7ft0

Hello girlie
Here are the dimensions... I do hope i've not gone and bought the wrong thing :-/
It's only for a small set up at home.
6ft Bar
•Approximate dimensions: 72" length, 42" internal between revolving sleeves,
15" sleeve length of which 13.5" you can fit disks onto.
•Weight 16kg
•Weight Capacity - 270Kg0 -
16kg? a women's olympic bar is 15kg, and a full size one is 20kg. having said that the likelihood of you maxing it out isn't that high! as long as you calculate the bar weight in with your plate weights you'll be fine0
-
Its not wrong and with 270kg max you'll be good to go, as said make sure you are calculating your bar weight in with the total plates and all will be good. Also remember if you are starting SL from the bar you are starting at 16 rather than 20kg0

Thanks ladies
I will weigh the bar when it arrives as I've heard they are not always accurate.
I will also remember to add all weight together.
I'm unlikely to add any plates until I have my form correct, reading through the SL and SS pdf's atm and practicing with a broom handle with carrier bags full of sugar on the ends looking ridiculous but it works hehe0 -
The only thing to keep in mind is that a women's bar is shorter so if you end up going to a gym for whatever reason you might feel a bit "off" with the longer bar. Other than that happy lifting :drinker:0

Thanks fittreelol
At last it's all arrived \O/
I've weighed the bar 3 times and its 15.4kg/34lb. Flipping heavy lol!!
I've have a kicking boxing grading next wk so I'll be starting 5x5 then, if I can keep away from the bar. So tempted right now he he.
