Exclusively Pumping Exercise Tips?

Hi everyone- due to prematurity and other unfortunate circumstances I'm exclusively pumping for my daughter. I have a low per pump yield so I haven't been able to drop many pumps- now doing 8ppd down from 12 but still spending apx 4 hrs pumping per day. I'm having trouble finding ways to get in exercise- when I get home from work it's dark and by the time I get my daughter to bed and pump I'm ready to collapse. I don't do a MOTN pump anymore so I usually pump for 30-45 min when I get up, thus, working out in the morning means getting up super early. I am just looking for some advice...even if that advice is to suck it up and rise at 4 AM...lol.

Give yourself a break! If you don't have the time or energy to exercise somedays then don't. If you're already feeling stretched exercising will only lessen your milk supply and breastfeeding lasts for such a short period of time I'd leave the regular exercising until your daughter is ready to move on. Sure if you have time when on a weekend or whatever to do a bit go for it, but if it's not a regular thing right now don't sweat it.

I agree with what's already been said! My son is 10 months and it's tough to make the time (and I breastfeed, so I can't imagine how hard it is for you to pump, then bottle feed, then wash pump parts and bottles!). What I've been doing is trying to sneak some squats/lunges in at random times throughout the day...i.e. when my husband is giving my son a bath, or right after I've finished pumping at work. It just takes a few minutes, but I do feel like my legs are getting stronger and it's keeping me more active than I would be. Once I'm finished pumping at work in a few months I can use my lunchbreak to get out and walk, so I'm looking forward to that (not sure if you have that opportunity at work or not). Try and take some pressure off yourself, though, and just focus on working out Sat/Sun for now. Then maybe you can add in one day during the week of dedicated exercise. But if you can't, don't worry about it right now! Breastfeeding is really important to me, so if that means dedicated exercise has to wait a little longer, then I'm okay with that. Kudos to you for EPing, by the way!

I;M an exclusive pumper as well. I usually can only exercise when my husband gets home from work. I go to gym classes, thats the only thing that motivates me to workout because I love gym classes. Lol sometimes I will go for walk with both my kids. I aim for exercise 3 days a week, if I get more, awesome! But I know how you feel, its a drag. I pump 5x a day and nurse 2-3x a night , yawn. my son is 10months old
