"Barely Passed" my Gestational Diabetes Test at 9 weeks

So I had GD with my son at 27 weeks-birth (which they let me go 11 days OVER before inducing as I was diet managed and well managed). He was a whopping 7 lbs 12 oz when he was born 13 days overdue. I had a BMI of 28.7 at the start of my pregnancy, and a family history of diabetes, so I was tested at 8 weeks with the 1 hour and it was fine. Only gained 23 lbs and lost that within 8 days of birth.

Got pregnant with my daughter when my son was 8-9 months. I had lost another 10 lbs inbetween them (BMI 26, much closer to healthy this time). Passed the GD test with flying colors at 9 weeks and at 25 weeks. Was like 20 points away from the cap. Gained 46 lbs since I gave myself permission to eat anything and everything (UGH, I was convinced I'd have GD again, so ate all the bad foods, then after I passed both tests just kept eating). Lost 22 lbs with birth, then went on to lose the rest and another 12 lbs.

Now pregnant with #3 and LAST baby. Now I have a BMI of 23.9. Had a GD test at 9 weeks. The fasting was good, the 2 hour was ok. The 1 hour was where I failed with my first pregnancy and this time the cap was 179 and I was 172. I know I shouldn't be worried yet as passing is passing. But the doctor did not look thrilled (especially since I have a history of it both family and personal) and reminded me we'd be restesting at 3rd tri. I'm just dreading it now as I'm convinced I'll have it again. I'm going to try to stick to a loose GD diet until then. No need to go crazy with either extreme. Hoping this means another boy, but worried that since it's not great at this point (especially with being such a better weight!) I don't want to have to need pills or insulin later on. Hopefully this is just a scare and later it'll be fine. But I do not want to go through stabbing myself again several times a day and counting everything I ate. And the extra appointments with 2 kids? Sigh.

Anyone else worried or in the same boat?

Sounds like you have a plan and I am hope that things work out okay. I know that it is easier said then done, but try not to worry yourself over these next few weeks. It will be what it will be, and it will not be good for yourself or the baby if you are stressed out and worrying about it. I do hope everything goes well for you when you have to retest again!
