How do I get fit without losing weight?

I have been eating about 1400 calories a day and doing some cardio and weight training. I'm trying to gain strength and look more toned without losing weight. Honestly, I probably need to gain weight. Does anyone know what I should be doing to get toned and fit without losing weight? I feel like such an idiot even asking this!

    Weight is all about calories. So as long as you eat enough, you wont lose weight. However much you work out, you just eat those calories back.

    To gain strength and look more toned, you need to exercise, preferably weight training and calisthenics. Push ups and squats are a good place to start.

    Caloric surplus and weight training.

    A calories surplus will allow you to build muscle. Weight training will make sure that those extra calories won't all turn into fat.
