 Bwhahahahahahaha! I am going to be EVIL! I am going to make you all seethe!

As of 17:23 PST on Saturday November 23, 2013, with the purchase of a Holy Hand Grenade plushie at a local geek store, have completed all of the Christmas shopping that requires any thought.

There are still some items of tuck and a few bits and bobs, but they can wait for targets of opportunity or really good sales between now and Zero Hour.

The only reason I have to go to a shopping mall between now and next year is to gloat.

    And I WILL.

I quite enjoy going to busy centers of holiday stress where I just wander around looking very serene and more than a little smug...

    Wouldn't you?

I wish you all the very best of luck, plus all the reserves of perseverence, persistence, and patience needed to get through the next few weeks without too much fuss.

And as you become suffused with the giving spirit--to your family, your friends, your communities--just remember to give yourself something important; give yourself the Gift of Time.

Give yourself time to plan your meals, or at least your eating strategies.

Give yourself time to exercise--even if it's just parking really far away from the door. (Remember to dress correctly for the weather. It's hard to be cool when you're cold.)

Give yourself time to sleep. When the obligations start to pile up, sleep is usually the first thing sacrificed.

You already know the dangers of sleep depravation; lowered metabolism, increased hunger, and lousy judgement--you know that leads to bad food choices...and possibly tears.

So long before you must swear new oaths of resolution on New Year's Day, and even before you saddle up for Black Friday...celebrate the holidays with a promise of time to look after yourself.

Plan well. Play safe. Have fun!

Weekend is over and so is Hubby's birthday firepit and bbq. Went pretty well. Coldest we got was about -8 and about 20 people made it. It was a lot of fun! :) I've officially managed to finish the kids shopping except for some stocking stuffers. Pretty much just left is the adults. Still not too hard.

Hollyla, a jammy day with your son... sounds fabulous. I totally understand about the McDonalds. I've pretty much cut it out of my diet. But now if I have it I get a vicious case of heartburn.
  • I would be jealous of the finished shopping if I wasn't getting my super fun shopping trip this weekend! I hope I don't regret my Black Friday frenzie!

That's some good advice Mark, we don't take enough time for ourselves at the holidays and the stress levels are already rising for many! I am working hard to play it cool this year and I am taking time out for myself like going shopping :)

Pixy im glad the birthday celebrations went well!!! :)

So it's the start of the last week of November and I did some reflection on my month of eating exercise and skipping dr appointments! It's silly for an adult to be so stressed out about their dr but this lady seriously makes me feel awful every time! I don't think she is the best dr but they are so hard to find in manitoba!
Anyways back to my reflections... I seriously lack in the area of potassium and often over exceed in sodium these are bad for me as I have high blood pressure and diabetes.. So I did some research and I found that 6 of the top 15 potassium rich foods are bad for diabetes, another 6 are yucky so I have a few foods to add to my list... What I didn't know and I am looking forward to trying is sweet
Potatoes are loaded with potassium I don't mind them so that's my new super potassium food I guess!!!

Okay I should get to working in here cause it's a short work
    Week for me :) yay!!!
  • I know exactly what I want to get everyone... Problem is I don't have the money yet! go figure!
  • I changed my username!

    I used to be laurarichardson84
now I am lauralouwho84.. As you can see!

Does that mean you are now related Cindy Lou Who?
  • Maybe! LOL!

That is one of my favorite movies!
  • 1 work day down 2 more till my trip

@laurie: I get the list without the cash... Every Christmas for the past 14 years!!! I hope to get most of my list on this trip but with 4 kids and a husband and a mom it might take a second trip... Lucky for me our big family dinner isn't till the 27th and I get paid before that, so I have time!!

I met our Interim (3-6 month) boss until they hire a permanent. He seems smart and pleasant. "Respectful" and "Hands-On" we asked for. He may fit the bill. Takes a little of the sting off of losing Jan. But she deserves this (a better job).

Hollyla, Enjoy your Black Friday shopping trip! So nice that you enjoy it!

Laura, too bad you can't just give them chits that they can cash when you're flush! Wouldn't it be nice to win the lottery? One of my favorite pipe dreams.

Mark, You are a wise man with a wacky sense of humor (compliment). Thanks for that.
  • I am excited tomorrow we leave! The roads are bad and it's snowing sounds like Christmas shopping to me :)

Paula: I hope your new interm boss works out!

So today on my way to busy mind is all about shopping I know that isn't the most interesting subject so I am going to keep it in!

I am going to log every evening but I may not be able to get on much as our schedule is very crazy!! If I miss it happy thanksgiving to all my American friends :)

2:30 in the morning. Just got home from seeing TransSiberian Orchestra (love my heavy metal holiday carols). They aren't coming to the SanJose/SanFrancisco bay area nowadays, so we had to get to Sacramento on Thanksgiving eve. 5.5 hours there, 2.5 hours back. Fabulous concert. Happy holiday season to all!
  • paula- i love TSO!! i've never seen them in concert, but i've watched and listened on the tv. so cool that you got to see them in person.

Hi Holly, How was your shopping weekend? Did you have fun?? Is everyone doing better?

I discovered today that Centrum Silver Chewable Multivitamins have milk in them. I've been wondering why this low-level reaction has been dogging me for so long. And only thought this weekend to check the vitamins I've been taking the last eight months. I'm so excited to breathe again!

I don't have a dairy allergy (like anaphylaxis). It's just a sensitivity (like poison ivy). It's awful but not deadly. People are more aware of allergies, so I say "allergy" to avoid long explanations and to be treated seriously. Is that wrong?

Even still, some food providers don't know that touching dairy (cheese on a cutting board, butter on a knife) or being made with dairy (some breads, vitamins) will do it. So it makes eating out a challenge.

But it stops me from eating many trigger foods. Treats at work aren't even tempting. What would you pay to reduce the voice that says "eeeaaat theeese"? So I'm grateful.

Paula: It's great that you found the source of your reaction. I understand what you mean by cross contamination. My niece is celiac and we have to very careful when she comes over. I work in a restaurant though and we have a serious policy if someone come in w/ a allergy. It drives me crazy when someone says they have an allergy and its obvious that they don't. They says its severe, we start checking all the recipes and say they can't have it because it's in the sauce or bread or the meat. Then they come back and say "Oh, they're fine with it there". ARGH!!!! We respect intolerances and dislikes too. :grumble: But protocols for "allergies" are strict.
Personally I'd say you're a moderate allergy, w/ no contact. It won't kill you... but it will make you ill. I think it should be treated seriously.

Holly! How did the shopping go? We just started having Black Fridays last year. There is nothing that would make me go shopping in that crowd. :noway: But I heard about some great deals. I can't imagine what its like in the States.

I worked a 12 hour shift today, on my feet w/ no breaks. Then I came home and did Zumba. I think I must have a loose screw. Everyone have a good night!
  • Good morning my friends, I missed you all :)

I had an okay time but im not sure if I would go again... My mom and one of our travel partners was so sick that it effected us all, and then by the time we all got back home my babysitter had done nothing in my house my cat is super sick and is going to the vet soon, and I ruined my logging streak lol! I thought I had come on but maybe I was too exhausted to think clearly!

When I got home my fish tank filter was making an awful noise so I tried to fix it and ended up sitting on the floor of a flooded kitchen crying because I hurt to much to stand up and no one would help me because my mom was still sick am my daughter was mad at me...

So shopping was okay I didn't really get amazing deals and the after effect of me trusting my house to someone else was just not worth it! I had some sleep last night and I am off work today so hopefully things get better now!

I'm so sorry Holly! That sounds miserable. hugz! You're home now and you can get back into your routine. I hate it when something you look forward to ends up a bit of a dud!

I'm a little grumpy today. The weather forecast for the rest of the work week is -20 and lower, w/ lots of snow. The roads are going to bite. Plus I think I got a speeding ticket coming home from work on Friday night. It was 2 in the morning... got off late. I was going the speed limit, saw the the light turn yellow. Tried to press the breaks ... weren't helping much because it was slick. So I drove through it on the red. (There was no one around). But I think I got caught on the intersection camera. Dang! Hubby's gonna be ticked. sigh.

Oh boy, do you need some love! Hope your fish, cat, mother, daughter, (babysitter) and house all get better soon!

I copied this from the Help section: "If at any time your “days in a row” counter is incorrect, you can request that someone look into it for you by completing this form: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/login_counter_reset_request ". If you tried to logon and it didn't work, you should be able to reset it!
  • P1xy: yikes to the red light ticket those can be crazy, with any luck they took the weather into consideration! We are also getting hit y the snow and cold weather... I believe I read once you were in Alberta??? I am in manitoba so we get Alberta's crazy weather... I hope your husband is not too ticked if it does come and that the weather brightens for you :)

The fish survived I fixed the filter... It's a very expensive filter set up that although I got for free I don't want to replace as we have an aquarium frog and they are noise sensitive
My cat cost me 1360 to get better but he is now home and the 1 x .5 inch piece of rubber matting that he swallowed whole is in a container to serve as a reminder to be more careful!
My daughter got over her issue and is back to being a teenager
My mom is still sick but thankfully her room is far enough away I don't have to listen to it

Tomorrow is weight in and back to normalcy I hope! I did mess up a bit with the stress but no binging and I don't think I gained any weight back just didn't loose anything! This is success as I normally would have binged a lot!
I am still in pain with my knee when I bend down or do stairs but I believe it's just strain from lugging my butt to all those stores!!

Thanks p1xy and Paula for your thoughtfulness, it has made me feel a lot better
