Eating at high end restaurants

My husband's company brought all the 25+ years employees out for their annual luncheon. This year is was held at Michael Jordan's steak house. He cut his steak in half and his dessert in half right away and had them wrapped.
He brought all the leftovers home for me and after I did my calculations, I realized I could eat it all: steak, kale in marscopone, mashed potatoes, and flourless chocolate cake. I measured carefully and pulled the high end of calories from mfp.
Luckily I had a great workout an hour before. I was very satisified with my meal and ohhhh, how yummy. Fat, salt, and sugar do that to us. Plus, I didn't have to prepare it myself!!!!!
I haven't had steak in a very, very long time. It was very good. Everything was good.

I'm not sure I'd be able to cut everything in half upon receiving it but I do know that if the full serving were on my plate, I'd be going over my allottment. Not that I go out to high end restaurants a lot, but with the holiday season coming up, I was wondering if you had any suggestions.

If I'm with a group of friends or family I've started trying to find somebody to split an entree with - generally half is enough and then I don't have to worry about being tempted to eat the rest.

Last night my DH and I went to Jameson's Charhouse. I got the mediterranean sea bass which was delicious.
Problem was the cream of mushroom soup which was way way high in sodium, based on my scale reading today.
I could taste the salt in everything.
I immediately split my main dish in half and have leftovers. Luckily, no soup tonight.
I just need to swear off soup at restaurants, not that I order soup often. I like my homemade better.
