Any twin moms-to-be trying to gain enough weight?

Hi there - I'm currently just over 17 weeks pregnant with twins (our first babies and a complete surprise!) and I'm worried that I'm not gaining enough weight. Before getting pregnant I had used MFP to lose 50lbs over the course of a year and was in the best shape of my life. So now it's strange to be trying to achieve the opposite...a steady but sufficient weight gain!
I've been reading a book that came highly recommended by my doctor "When You're Expecting Twins, Triplets or Quads - Proven Guidelines for a Healthy Multiple Pregnancy" and I'm worried that I seem to be behind their recommendations for weight gain and calorie consumption. I've put on around 12lbs so far whereas the minimum weight gain recommendation for 17 weeks is given as 17lbs. By 20wks it says you should aim to gain 25lbs...I just don't think I'm going to hit that.
I want to do everything in my power to make sure my babies stay safe and healthy and according to the book, gaining enough weight, particularly earlier on, reduces the risk of premature labour, so I really want to do whatever I can.
Just wondering if there are any other twin moms-to-be out here who are in a similar situation? And what kind of weight gain you're trying to achieve?

Hey there! My twins are almost 3 months now but thought I would chime in. I only gained 5 lbs with my twin pregnancy. No, I wasn't trying not to gain. I didn't have the pregnancy cravings and I continued to swim up until I delivered at 37 weeks. Every person and every pregnancy is different. As long as your doctor isn't concerned and the babies are growing fine don't be concerned that you think you are not gaining enough. My girls were born weighing 6 lbs and 5 lbs 10 oz.. Good luck with your pregnancy.0
