Schedule vent

I'm feeling really guilty about not having LO on a quality schedule. Ideally, he would get to nap from 9:30-11 and 1-3. But this little guy has two older siblings and I cannot stop their world to let him sleep. So, the poor thing takes cat naps throughout the day. He is napping right now at almost 6pm because he was so tired I knew he wouldn't last until bedtime. Ugh. It is very challenging organizing three different kids' schedules so they each get what they need! This isn't really a question, just a guilty mommy vent. Anyone else feeling this way?

I'm pregnant with my third so I imagine I'll be feeling this way next April! My eldest will be nearly 5, and he's at school, and my second will be nearly 3, and she'll be at nursery 3 days a week. So I'll have to take them to two separate places in the morning. I'm going to get a sling so the baby can sleep on me while I rush around.

My son was 22 months old when my daughter was born, so we didn't have to be anywhere at any specific time, so it was easier. My daughter could sleep in the pram when we went out. Although she never liked sleeping much anyway!

I understand the guilt! I have a 4 year old and a 17 month old and on weekends my youngest gets naps when we can and when she's tired. We tried to drop the morning nap, but some days she still needs it. At least during the week she has a consistent schedule because she's in daycare... but I do feel like she has too more flexible with napping and eating schedules than my son

I get it! I just read something in Parents magazine on this. Second (and subsequent) children generally don't get great naps due to older kids' schedules and/or noise. My younger son rarely naps on the weekends because of this (older son is in preschool during the week). On rare occasions I can get both to nap simultaneously on the weekends.

ETA that part of the article talked about not feeling guilty about it as well as being ok with your baby's catching cat naps in the car.

Thanks ladies. Still getting into the swing of this 3 kids at home stuff. :). If I can convince my 5 month old to stop waking up 3 times a night I think I'll feel less stressed.
