Preparing for Turkey Day!

As promised, I'm updating you all with what I've learned from my WW meeting today regarding thanksgiving meals. It was theeee best meeting I've attended and it gave me a lot of good insight into things you can do to avoid packing the pounds back on over the holiday.
1.) Make it one day! Don't let the leftovers come home with you and turn it into more than one day of eating outside of your normal routine though.
2.) Plan ahead for it. Work out extra during the week and eat under/at your calories every other day so that you can some extra to allow you to "splurge" on that one dessert you really want this year. Depriving yourself is a sure fire way to end up binging.
3.) Don't graze! Just take one plate and if you really want everything, take a small bit of everything. Not cups, but tablespoons and allow yourself to enjoy it.
4.) Don't skip meals prior to eating thanksgiving dinner. That leaves you open to eat unhealthy appetizers or eat more than you originally planned to eat because the smells are so overwhelming you want it all!!
5.) Bring games or cards to play so the focus of the day isn't just on the food. After you eat, play a game and distract yourself.
6.) Put the food away so it doesn't sit out and give you that chance to graze.
What else do you guys have? These are the suggestions I walked away with today and they made a LOT of sense for fighting my standard triggers.

Those are awesome reflections MissM!
One thing that I did this year that both my husband & I agreed was very smart - I did not make one appetizer. Instead, we enjoyed the meal only and believe it or not, we actually ate less than usual. Not sure if that was related to just not being in the "mode" of grazing like you mentioned or we have really changed how we approach food/special occasions.
I will say this, we had our dessert first thing in the morning, anticipating that we would not have room after dinner for it, and I think that helped to satisfy us until dinner time. It was so good:P0
