Thinking of signing up to try this next year. I'm a highly experienced half-marathoner...Ok, that means I've done a grand total of one half-marathon. Just wondering if anyone has recommendations for footwear for an off-road desert marathon.....

    I know this is an old topic, but I participated in the Bataan Memorial Death March last year and it was a great experience. Granted, I did not run it but I rucked it as a team in full uniform with a 45lb ruck sack. It was brutal, but our team completed it. If you go be sure to get there a day or two before so you can meet some of the survivors. Being able to listen to their stories and shake their hand at the begining of the march made the pain worth while. I planned on doing again this year, but alas I am deployed and won' be able to make it. Good luck and enjoy it if you decide to run this.
