IT band issues and a race this weekend

After my last run Thursday of last week my IT band has been bothering me. If I touch the side of my knee and press it feels sore. I used my foam roller yesterday, was so busy with family over and son sick that just got around to it last night. I used some icy hot and will ice it today. I have a 15k race on Sunday, do I just not run all week and take it easy and take care of the IT band? Or do I run easy and short distance until race day?
