I just want to throw this out there. If you are willing, use this to challenge yourself. If you walk a mile a day normally (or it's not problem), then try the first day or so of a C25k program (alternating running and walking). If you run on a regular basis, then try to improve your pace on that mile. Know your limitations of course, I don't anyone getting injured.
Myself, I have noticed that I actually recover faster from the longer runs now. I used to ache for a few days, but since I started doing the mile a day it hasn't been happening. Good luck to everyone and keep those clothes on!! ;-)
