Today was better. I stayed in my calorie goal. I did have some candy. Only about a quarter of what I have been having. Tomorrow will be better.

You don't have to go 40 days and nights with no sweets; you can just go one day and night without them . . . 40 times in a row!0

Thanks for the group invite. I started about 3 weeks ago with no sugar and to be honest I don't even miss it at this point. I've had a huge sweet tooth over the years and going with no sugar is a great way of curbing it. Good luck everyone!0

Funny, real , sweet, lol. Today went great. Not perfect, I find sugar is in everything. Even my peanut butter!

I am another person out there struggling with sugar and your description of your day fits mine exactly. AJ is correct. It isn't 40 days, it is today, right now. When the craving starts tomorrow I will say "Not today. Maybe tomorrow." And then when it is tomorrow, I will say "Not today."
I have to do this. I am rooting for you too.0 -
Great thinking. Yesterday was great. Today not so much. Tomorrow will be better. One day at a time.

I honestly have such a problem with sweets that my salvation is avoiding them altogether.
It is such a blessing to be in this low-carb heaven from which cravings have been banned; and I am fearful of falling out of it. I had french fries for lunch today and my husband was afraid it might trigger my addiction. But that was the limit to my carbs today, and so far it feels okay.
Strength to us all!

Oh maaannnn, again! I never eat sweets! What is happening?? Had 2 tsp of sugar on rolled oats with almond milk. It didn't feel like a bad thing to do. For half-a-second, thought "well maybe sugar doesn't count as a sweet, after all it isn't candy". Oh well...
Still within my daily calorie limits. We'll see if it has repercussions. The fact that I even wanted oats and sugar today might be due to yesterday's french fries triggering some slight cravings. Because usually I don't even consider things like that. Vigilance!0 -
I haven't had office candy for 2 days! Of course, I was off work over the weekend, but what the hey.
Now I am at work and the bowls are filled with Christmas chocolates, but I am candy-free so far. The worst is ~2 PM.0 -
Paula and dilligaf I had my first really good day today. I even ate an Apple. Paula I know what you mean about triggers. Stay strong. And dilligaf, I think candy bowls should be banned. I so am staying away from the ladies on first floor!
Tomorrow will be good also.

I did it again!!! Sugar on my cereal yesterday. Oh man, may have to change my view of myself as a clean eater. But in the overall picture a tablespoon of sugar in a week is not a crisis (if it stops there).
I was talking on a thread about carb triggers, and mentioned how I was currently fighting the effort to have a bowl of oatmeal with cereal on it. It had been almost subconscious before then, but vocalizing it brought it to the front, and guess what. You know the rest.
So I'm going to go have the protein shake now, that I missed yesterday.
Congratulations, Shelley, on the good days!

Paula I think just being conscious of how much sugar is in everything helps. And if that little bit is all you have that is totally fantastic.
I made cookies for the guys at work today. The maintenance team to be exact. I take them cookies and fudge or bread every Christmas. Been doing it for the last 15 years. I made peanut butter fudge for them also. And I did not sample any of it. That is truly a first ever.
