I'm back (and ready to stay back this time)!

Hi Ladies! Missed you all so much! I just couldn't fit one more freaking thing in my schedule the last few weeks (months). BUT I'M BACK!

For those of you on my friends list, you already know I was diagnosed with hypothyroid (who else is out there??) and "static migraines". I have been instructed to try to eat an anti-inflamatory diet (no sugars, carbs, dairy) - but wow I don't think I have the will-power to do this. My goal is to get through December without "extra sweets". I am going to allow myself some chocolate - but I'm cutting out cakes, cookies, ice cream, etc... My headaches are awful, awful still- but getting better. I want to be accountable to myself, and all of you over the Christmas holiday to make sure I am taking care of my body and continuing on to a more healthy life.

I am now at my all time high (240 pounds) and frustrated that I let things get this out of hand (I was almost under 200 in August). I am resetting my ticker and I am GOING TO LOSE THIS WEIGHT, I'm going to get back under 200, then back to my prepregnancy weight of 193, and then onto my goal weight of 175.

I am going to lose it because my kids deserve a healthy and present mother.
I am going to lose it because I miss my sex-drive (so does DH).
I am going to lose it because I don't like the way my clothes fit.
I am going to lose it because I think the headaches will go away as I get more fit.
I am going to lose it because I want to.
I am going to lose it because I like being healthy.
And I am going to lose it to prove to myself: I AM STRONG.

I am starting this month with watching what I eat and working my way up to a 5 minute plank before the New Year! If I can do THAT, I can do anything!! And that will give me the momentum to keep going.

    Hey there!!!!!!

I know, how did they get so big? (I saw your response to me on the other thread...)

So sorry you are having these issues. Are you taking thyroid meds?

I'm hanging out a breath over 200, and getting under is my first mini-goal. Then under 180, then under 160, which puts me at a healthy BMI, then my previous low of 153.8.

I like the idea of a fitness goal like the five-minute plank! When I was super fit between babies I did one on the fly, without "training" for or working up to it. That is so sad because I don't think I could do a 30-second one now :( But something to aspire to, again! I'd like to be even stronger than I was before, even if it means I weigh more.

Also, I'm with you on the sex drive thing. Zero drive here, plus I'm all self-conscious. Nursing doesn't help, hormonally speaking. I feel so bad for my husband, though I'm sure he knows it'll pay off greatly when I'm all fit again. I'm not rushing it, but I can't wait to be done with nursing so that I can be separated from my kids for enough time to go to my Saturday morning Spin class!

    Edited for typo

Confession: I feel bad for Dear Hubby. It's been over a month. On the few occasions I felt up for it, something else has been going on (him studying late for finals, baby was sick, etc...). Gah! I keep telling myself once it happens once or twice I can get back into the swing of things, but with the headaches and everything else going on, it's hard to make myself want to do anything.

also hypothyroid, started taking levothyroxin when I was pregnant. I'm going to talk to the doctor on Monday (4 month check up) about whether I still need to take.

lj3jones - I'm on levothyroxin as well - 1/2 of the smallest manufactured dose. I have not been good about taking it at the same time everyday though. I'm really, really bad at meds. Sometimes I take them right at 6:30 (the time I set my alarm to remind me to take it) and sometimes I take it closer to noon when I had silenced it. I know that the medication can't do it's job if I don't get on a set schedule, but YIKES. Scheduling is not my forte. I hope your dr says it's time to come off the medication!! My dr's goal is to have me back off the meds by babe's 1st birthday.

I take it before bed each night (probably same time to within 30 minutes). I'm on the smallest dose (5 mcg). Since I started in pregnancy and LO's health depended on it, I got in the habit of taking it regularly.

Good news, I'm able to stop taking the thyroid pills, retesting in 6 weeks. Hopefully you'll be able to get off them too.
