Motorist pulled out on me this morning nearly run me over, 'didn't see me', braking hard my bike flipped up and hit me in the crotch. I actually cried, the adrenaline of realising you could've been seriously injured coupled with the pain in my pubic bone. I'm okay now, home and safe with my babies.

    Glad to hear you're OK!

For the next time: http://bikeportland.org/2006/01/12/what-to-do-if-youve-been-hit-830 Sure, it's from Portland, OR and has local info but the bare outline is a great resource if it happens again.

Here's why: about 7 years ago I was hit while riding my bike. Driver was not paying attention and clipped my rear wheel sending me flying and sprawled across a busy intersection. She was freaked out, I was freaked out. Luckily, there were no apparent issues and we went our ways. First, I found my crankarm was bent so I couldn't get home. Then the pain started. Again, I was lucky to escape with only bruises, some road rash and a tweaked back. Unfortunately, the crank turned into a $75 repair (which as I was unemployed at the time was a nasty hit). The back turned into several months of physical therapy years later after another minor injury exacerbated the issue. As I had no info, I had no recourse. Would I do it differently next? You bet.

That said, still glad you're ok. We're vulnerable out there and by using the law to help us in time of need we become less so.

The worst part of it was I saw them way up ahead parked on a side street looking for something in their car but just as I passed they hit the gas without checking the coast was clear first, though I was upset and visibly hurt they didn't even get outta the car just kept repeating a mimed apology through the windscreen.

Thanks for the link, though I'm in the UK I'll take from it what's relevant.
