Good Afternoon Ladies:
Well we are rounding the bend to end of this challenge. Please let me say that it has been a pleasure and great experience to go on this journey with all of you. You have all taught me something, although I do not think that part of my exercise routine will become cleaning out python cages. This week's challeneg seems fun. Let's try to really push ourselves over these last few weeks, I know it is difficult with all the treats that are being brought in. A huge box of chocolates and cookies are sitting in from me now, and I would really like to just eat them until I felt sick!! Ugh, my weakness.
Ok so here are the official challenges for this week (if you want to read the full version, please see the main thread):
Edit:: Ok the challenge on the show last night had to deal with answering trivia questions about obesity to get points for your team. This is one we've done here before and people seem to gather alot of good infomation. This weeks challenge for us is going to be 3 parts
Part 1) AS A TEAM - answer the ten multiple choice questions listed here. You should discuss on your team thread and then one member should post your teams answers here (or in a PM to me if you prefer)
Part 2) AS AN INDIVIDUAL - answer at least one trivia question in the main thread, and post a new one. PLEASE make sure you are responding to the last question asked and make reference to that question in your response, then post a new question of your own for someone to asnwer.
For example:
AprilStar480 posts : "How many teaspoons of sugar does a typical can of soda have?"
I repond " A can of soda has 10 teaspoons of sugar. Next question: True or false, You should wait until you are hungry to eat?"
TamBam72 "False, waiting until you are hungry could result in skipping meals which triggers your body to hold on to fat and burn fewer calories. Next Question: How many calories will a person burn if they walk 1 mile on flat ground, at 3 miles per hour, and they weigh 200 pounds? A. 110 B. 200 C. 400
Get it? Good
Part 3) The challenge on the show had everyone worrying about how they are going to balance work and workouts once they get home (the losers had to work in a diner all week instead of spending it in a gym) This is a problem most of us face as there just isnt enough time in the day to get everything done. The physical challenge this week is to complete the 'workout at work" found in this link http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/special/health/workout-at-work/ This has a total of 12 exercises that you can do anywhere. No, they dont have to be done at work necessarily, but they could. They could also be done while you are watching TV, waiting at the bus stop for your kids, cooking dinner, riding the elevator, even talking on the phone. They can all be done fairly quickly, involve some cardiovascular exercise, and could have weights added in if you wanted for an extra kick. The point of this exercise is that there is always some type of exercise that you can fit in even if you only have 20 seconds. If you have the option to do this at work, I strongly suggest you try it - Sitting at a desk for 8 hours a day can have bad effects on your body (sore back and neck anyone?) and just a few moments of activity and stretching can help to remedy hours of sitting there
Challenge summary

Those are my choices. Waiting to see if others reply before I start posting more.
This week has been emotionally hard for me. Work is stressing me out and I am trying to learn to cope with it. I really believe though I'm on calorie point it's directly effecting my weight loss.
I ran my 8 mile today. A hill and cross terrain course. I feel like I was hit by a car tonight afterwards. Hoping it pays off. I really want to be out of the 240s the end of this week.0 -
Sorry to hear you're having a tough week Jesse. I agree with all the answers you listed.
Here's my contribution:
6) e
7)b
8) c
I could be wrong this is mainly a guess plus the help of wikipedia, especially for #8, I think I remember hearing that you start seeing health benefits after losing 10% of your body weight, but definitely could be wrong.
This week I got the biggest surprise of my life when my boyfriend of almost six years proposed to me on Tuesday night. I'm so excited and motivated to lose this weight before my wedding day!! Hoping that I can celebrate without going too over my calorie goal tonight at an engagement party my best friend is throwing for us.0 -
Sorry ladies, I have been bombarded with Dr. appointments this week and trying to catch exercise in too. I am an exhausted mess and I would like to get out of the 180's this week.

Using things around your home such as canned goods, milk jugs filled with water etc.. I would like to see everyone do a 45 minute workout where they do 3 minutes of strength traininh -1.5 minute straight, 30 second rest and then 1 minute strong, followed by 2 minutes of cardio which can include anything from running in place, jumping jacks, skaters, dancing, anything that will get your heart rate up for 2 minutes, then repeat until you reach 45 minutes..in doing the strength training mix it up-do bicep curls, head presses using canned goods, get a heavy ball or weight and do obliques twists, do squats holding 2 milk jugs..have fun with it!! I would like to hear what you did, if you attempt it!!

I will try and look up the answers to the questions and whatever the majority answer is wins and I will post in the main thread. Please do not forget to answer and post a health question in the main thread to get credit. Thanks a bunch.

Good Evening Ladies:
I had a great day of shoveling as Mother Nature has decided to give us a dumping of snow here in the North Country, NY. Yes I am located as close to the Canadian border without touching it you can be. So 2 1/2 hours of shoveling and 45 minutes of p90x makes my workout complete for the day!! The scale is just not loving me this week, but that's ok. I ave had to change my diet, add more fiber which has made me bloat, so I am just going to push through and pray for the best.
Here are the answers I came up with and since they basically agreed with the other two girls, I posted them to the main thread. Here are the answers:
1.)B
2.)C
3.)F
4.)A
5.)C
6.)E
7.)B
8.)C
9.)A
10.) D
Please do not forget to weigh in or get your challenge information in. Have a great night.

Good evening ladies:
Did anyone try the office workout? I did it is really cool. Basic overview, do the following exercises:
1.) Raise the roof-20 reps
2.)Tricep kicks-20 reps
3.) The hulk-20 reps
4.) Hamstring curls-20 reps
5,) knee lifts-20 reps
6.) hallelujahs-20 reps
7.) Punching-20 reps
8.) desk pushups-20 reps
9.) side lunges-10 per side
10.) jump squats-10 reps
11.) chair dips-10 reps
12.) 10 minute walk
Pretty good workout. Sorry ladies if I have a weight gain tomorrow, they have totally changed my diet and my body is not liking it. With the increased fluids and fiber, my weight is spiking. I have surgery on Monday, and then no exercise for 5 days. This whole thing is not making me a happy camper, but I refuse to give up. Hope everyone is having a great week!!

Office workout done today. Was a fun time and peeps at work thought I was crazy. I will be working very long long hours for the next 9 days. Sorry I won't be around much.0

Just did the office workout, luckily I am in an office by myself (being the only person in your department has some advantages lol) so no one to see me doing these moves. Also answered a question and asked one in the main forum, so my challenge is completed.
Unfortunately I gained this week and am back at my plateau weight of 163.8 lbs...for some reason my body loves this weight. Considering that we had our engagment party this weekend and went out to celebrate with family I'm pretty pleased that I didn't gain more than .9 lbs.0 -
Awesome ladies for getting the office workout in, I did too. For the 10 minute walk, I counted the 100 times I had to go from office to the other office pushing a two tier cart filled with paper. Happy tax season. So many people look forward to the holidays and then I ship them their tax bill for the New Year. The rest I did at lunch, didn't get many look until I did the hallelujahs and chair dips, but they think I am crazy anyway!!
I am missing several weigh ins, so we may get penalized because I am typing this about 45 minutes to show time. It's that time of the year! Thanks to those of you who weighed in and completed the challenge. Have a great night.
I personally had a crumby weigh in: last week: 181.4 this week: 180.9
