Hi all! Noticed we haven't had some activity for a while so thought I'd open a topic.
With the stress of the holiday season, holiday parties, etc.: how is everyone doing? Are you changing your holiday meal from what you typically make? Keeping up with exercise and tracking, or just going with the flow till after the season to get back on track?
My kids (ages 2 and 4) loved putting the tree up, but they won't leave the decorations alone! Had the tree tip over, a few broken ornaments. I'm considering taking down the breakables. I have to redo my ribbon (using ribbon this year instead of typical garland. Looks kinda scary right now, gotta redo it. Think I'll do garland next year!) Also trekking through the snow to take my preschooler to school a couple blocks away just twice a week is quite a workout with having the kids walking with me! They are loving the snow though. I hate getting cold, but makes for good bonding time and they have fun.
For Thanksgiving I did mostly Paleo dishes (I love experimenting and I was going to have a couple guests over with gluten/dairy sensitivities). I did my own turkey for the first time this year. Brined it. It was awesome. Great moisture and flavor throughout the meat. Awesome gravy. Leftovers made for an awesome turkey pie (gravy and mashed potatoes with turkey and veggies for the filling, great right?! Just had to make the crust.). However, I missed doing a real pie crust for my pumpkin pie. Did a nut crust instead. Was tasty, just not the same. There will be a true pumpkin pie for Christmas.
With all the holiday celebrations I don't feel like I've been moving forward with my weight goals, but I'm still exercising. I've bumped my weight up a few pounds already from overindulging. Mostly on leftovers. No good.
I want to focus more on some body weight exercises. I feel I've been focusing too much on cardio. I just got myself a pull up bar that goes around the door frame. So far so good. I could almost do a real full pull-up this morning, totally awesome! Also has use options for pushups and situps. My goal for the season is to at least end up where I started pre-season.
