I think it's tongue in cheek. I will have to say I'm guilty of number 2 at times.

    The best part of riding to work is that with the money I save in gas I was able to afford the higher car payments on a fun car, so getting to work is more enjoyable and getting to places farther afield is more entertaining too.

    Driving to work is the worst part of the days I drive to work. Biking to work is the best part of the days I bike. I only drive when I have to.

    This is a great list of excuses I actually had to work myself through. I now drive only when I need to go out on business during the day.
