How many calories should I eat?

I am exclusively breast-feeding a 3.5 month baby boy and I am struggling to find out how many calories I should eat to lose weight.
I started at 1200 calories, not realizing I need to eat more due to BF. So now I am increased to 1400 but not losing weight.
I'm also feeling guilty for eating 1400, just because that seems high.

If I go down to 1200 do I really run the risk of slowing down my metabolism?
So confused!

It's different for everyone, based on height, weight and activity level. Take a look at freedieting.com for their calculators. They have one for breast feeding (I'm assuming a maintenance caloric number) and others for weight loss. Good info on there about studies done about BFing and calories etc.

I eat about 1900 a day, as I exercise almost every day, and BF a 10 mo old (barely any solids).
