I started taking phentermine 37.5 on Tuesday 12/10/13 the 1st day I felt great got the burst of energy I heard people get while taking it, from then on I don't feel the energy I feel more high than anything no headache or anything and I don't eat as much as I should which I'm trying to work on. I still need to work on my working out as well but its 1 thing at a time and I get an awful taste in my mouth when I eat or drink anything like it makes everything taste gross, so that's part of why im having a hard time with my eating. does anyone have any of these side effects? I can handle these sides effects just was wondering if anyone else had anything like this while taking it.

I started on 30mg (I'm on a higher dose now), and when I first started I was a little dizzy and had what could only be described as hot flashes. I never felt jittery energy on it, like I just had to run around the block, but I felt very awake & alert and could run around the block if I wanted to (and had to some nights just to get to sleep). Try and force yourself to eat, it helped with my side effects.
It does not make things taste different to me, but things don't taste "as good" anymore. It's not as satisfying to eat anymore. Try chewing some gum. Did your doctor prescribe you a multivitamin?
Good luck!0 -
she just said it would be good to take a good multivitamin which I haven't got yet my husband gets paid this week and that is on the list to get. I haven't been eating as good but even with that I still log trying to get in that habit.0

I would definitely take a multivitamin. I'm not always in the habit of taking it, but I can feel when I need it. Have you weighed yourself yet? I lost 7lbs in my first week on Phen.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask/message me0 -
I was 270 on 11/29 at the drs but didn't start right then because I was taking other meds and didn't want them to interfere with the phentermine last week when I started the phentermine I was 265 and this week im at 261. Right now my eating is horrible those dang T.O.M cravings lol Tomorrow is a new day and I will aim for a better eating day and workout day. How long have you been taking it?0

Make sure you are drinking plenty of water and I would just try to eat something like every four hours, preferably some protein, because that will stay with you and is good for your body. The meds are very dehydrating, so you need the water. Are you only thaking the phen? I also had no appetite in the beginning, but did feel better eating somthing at regular intervals. I sure am not doing this in order to starve - I want to get my weight down, but I also want to eventually know how much I can eat without regaining.0

I drink a ton of water I have one of those britta water bottles and its 3 cups each I measured so I would know. I fill it up 5 times a day some days more than others but avg is 5 times. I'm working on my eating which hasn't been the best. I don't always fell like that now that I have been on it for 2 weeks now. I don't have that feeling as much any more just every now and then but it goes away. Maybe it was my body trying to get use to it and just made me feel like that. I'm trying to find what works. Thanks for the protein tip I will try that out.0

oh yeah im only taking the phen. I won't even drink soda or tea while taking it because of the caffeine in it.0

When I first started, the myfitnesspal food log really helped me alot to keep track of what I was eating. I did customize it somewhat so that I put midmorning snack, midafternoon snack between breakfast and lunch to better capture when I was eating. The medication and logging my food really helped me to get a better idea of what I was eating and then I started working on increasing the protein, which helps to decrease the appetite, too. I also take the topiramate, which really killed the appetite and desire for food, especially the first month or two - the app helped me make sure to eat something even if I was not hungry - usually a protein bar or some other dense nutrition just to get something in. Even though I was not hungry, my body would still react..so it was best to still feed it. Some people will say to not eat if you are not hungry, but part of my journey is to learn how much I can eat and eventually learn how much I can eat without regaining. hope I did not go on and on...the app on the phone is great too, because you can scan foods....Louise0

thank you so much for the advise and help. I took the week off during Christmas I was overeating and thought it would be best to hold off till all the festivities was done so I restarted to today and feel great. I noticed that when I don't eat I get the high feeling so I am trying to eat more often. Today I feel pretty good.0

That is great news - especially to notice the difference and make some adjustments. For me, doint the regular eating thing helped me to break the snacking/grazing and I think that really helped me get on track to losing weight.0

I mainly only drink water. The only side effects I have had are dry mouth and sometimes when I go to drink my water it will taste nasty and make me gag. On those days I will add a flavor of something in it, that helps but I only do that when my water is tasting weird. It has happened 3 times this month.0

I have been using it on a month and off a month. I don't have the high feeling any more it was just the 1st time I took it. I do turn into a B when I start back on it and I snap at people more. I warn my family and friends about it and apologize for my behavior ahead of time. it has worked for me I have just 2 more rounds of it then I'm off for a while so these next few months I need to work hard.0
