Losing weight and auto immune

Is it actually possible to lose weight while gluten free? I know that a lot of the replacements are more calorie dense then they're wheat counterparts. I need to lose some serious weight along with being gf/cf

Also is there anyone else that has an autoimmune? I have hashis and would love to hook up with others that have the same issue :/

Yes you can lose weight with gluten free - I've been gluten free over 20 years and have finally started losing weight.

The substitutes do not help and now I only treat myself once in a while otherwise I would just start gaining again.

You can lose weight while GF. I don't buy many of the GF replacements, sometimes I'll eat a pre-made cookie or pretzels but that's it. I make the stuff I do eat myself with GF flour - muffins, waffles, biscuits, cookies etc.

And I also have auto-immune diseases, but not the same as you OP. I have Celiac (which is easy to deal with) and Crohn's, which really sucks.

It's hard to lose weight if you need Prednisone for long periods of time to control an autoimmune disease. I have autoimmune hypothyroid disease, and celiac disease, do not need Prednisone, and haven't had a problem losing weight. The GF substitutes aren't that bad, as far as I can tell, as long as you find a variety of foods to eat. You might gain if you eat GF toast and cookies all the time instead of cooking some real food. GF bread is denser than wheat bread, but the calories per gram are about the same.
