Christmas Temptations for women

So...many of us are stress-eaters right?

It's amazing how things that would normally only be a tiny blip on our radars become huge stress or drama simply because it's that time of year. i.e. "I have to clean my house before I have visitors this weekend" - small stress. In the month of December, it becomes "I have to clean my house, actually decorate my house, do my christmas baking, shop and prep for a massive turkey dinner before my visitors arrive this weekend." -- LARGE stress. Another example: Fridays at the office seem to involve all sorts of baking and treats at the best of times, these past couple of weeks have been absolutely overwhelming with all the xmas baking and boxes of chocolate everywhere!

So back to my point and my discussion questions:
Do you have things that you need to share (with women over 40) that would normally not be a huge deal, but at this time of year seem to be turning into huge dramas by yourself or others?
How do you navigate the massive amounts of Christmas treats in the home and office?

We just received a huge Tower of Treats, and I'm currently working from home. So I opened all the boxes and looked at everything to see if there were any "must-haves" - things worth blowing 1/2 my day's calorie count on.

There weren't any. So I bundled up the rest and contributed them to my hair salon's high-traffic treat table.

No extreme measures, just keeping splurges for stuff I really REALLY want :-)

My strategy has been "just don't start." I looked through the stuff that came into work too in case there was anything worth the calories. There wasn't. There was a box of chocolates that looked good, but not spectacular (they weren't Godiva or anything), so I made the choice not to eat any. One of my co-workers said she'd eat just one - but of course later I saw her eating more. Once you start it's really hard to stop.

Having said that I guess I'm not much of a stress eater anymore. Used to be a huge problem for me, but thinking back I don't remember the last time I turned to food when I was stressed. Now I either head out for a walk or go to the gym to work it off. Stress eating just leads to more stress for me because then I'm mad at myself too for eating. Not worth it.
