Fitness Goals for 2014

I have been doing a lot of thinking. It happens when I work long days by myself. And I really want to make some fitness goals for 2014.

Here are some of my fitness goals for this year...

~ 75 situps (crossfit style ones) in 2 mins
~ a real box jump (right now I have been doing them on a raised stepper...because I am scared.)
~ I want to get my squat up to 125 pounds for reps

I need to do more cardio. Right now my cardio is warming up on the treadmill before training. I need to get my butt moving more often.

What are some of your goals?

Excellent post! Get that spirit movin!

My main goal right now is to keep my walking going even when temps are chilly (Negative 2 degrees is the HIGH TEMP on Monday - Negative 4 on Tuesday!).

I would like to make my other goals to begin incorporating weight training in with my workouts. I am your opposite Jill. In High School I loved to do heavy lifting drills over cardio....So I guess this is my way of taking the muscle that has been losing tone and strength over the last 10 years re strengthens, I make my body love the cardio. In the end I think it will come together nicely. My calves are huge. I will have to have my wife take some good tone shots of them. Scary really!

I have my main goal still being to drop down to 220 by my 33rd birthday this September. I really would like to see that guy again! That was my freshman year of college, working at the UPS distribution center unloading a half of fleet of delivery trucks of all sizes... 30 minutes and I could unload a whole full semi trailer full of shoes by myself from Eastbay (Footlocker.com) since their main distribution center was 2 miles down the road. I got really good at it, and was throwing anywhere between 1200-1500 packages down the conveyer every hour. Hell I use to go and take 150 - 200 lb barrels of ginseng root and squat lift with a big old bear hug and put them up on the conveyor belt by myself. I would get yelled at all the time cause I am suppose to have two guys handling those....and anything over a certain weight had to be hand trucked using a ramp on the other side of the lot....big pain to find someone strong enough when they run tight union crews and afraid of the union cracking down on the injuries.

Ok HIGH of -2 and -4??? And people think Buffalo is bad!!!! Ouch! I give you so much credit for walking in that type of weather. I would be all bundled up and well couldnt put my arms down type of thing...that it would just be silly for me to be outside. But I am one of those people when everyone leaves the office and I crank it up to 74.

I have such a love/hate relationship with cardio. The thought of getting start makes me come up with a million and one excuses not to do it. But when I am done...I want to smack myself for being such a baby. I love the feeling after plus dripping with sweat makes me feel sexy.

Ok CK- I see CrossFit in your future!!! You picking up 200 pound barrels and squat lifting them is something crossfitters do. And I am sure other people... but just saying! My trainer picks up these huge awkward rocks and has to put them on chest high stands. It looks so painful!!! I get impressed with things I cannot do. Like handstand pushups! Oh my! I could watch in awe for hours.

I use to do handstand pushups with a wall as a guide ..... but I also was able to do handstands and walk around on my hands and kips when I was in Tae Kwon Do. (Kips are when you lay on your back and with only using the force of your legs, you raise them up and then flip yourself up onto your feet without use of hands or arms. You ask my wife....she will be the first to tell you I use to be a bean pole in High School. 6'4'' 175 lbs.

As far as the weightlifting. I am going to be doing Spartan races this next year. That's one of my goals is to participate in a couple of tough mudders and Spartan races.
