Hello Fellow Runners,
I've recently signed up for my first full marathon in late May. I've done a couple of halfs, one 10K and a few 5Ks over the last few years, and I just wanted to achieve my life-goal of a full marathon this year. So I will.
I've never really been a vitamin taker or other supplement taker, but with this new endeavor, I want reduce my chances of injury and also promote general health and wellness during training. I'm incorporating resistance/weights into my training program as well.
So my question to you is: what supplements have you taken in the past that have worked well for you, and do you have any sage advice on this topic?
I'm staying away from whey protein (I don't do so well with dairy products), but I would love to hear about all success (or any past experience) that you would like to share.
Thanks so much for your input!

My diary is open, and I only take B complex, multi, magnesium, and fish oil. I take protein shakes when I'm running short or whatever, but that hasn't been since the summer. I've also gone a few days without vitamins and felt fine so w/e0

I take a bunch of stuff (diary open) but in reality I am not sure I need any of it (except the calcium for Celiac). There is a new study, and there is a study for EVERYTHING, that says multi vitamins don't do any good.
All that said I think if you have a reasonably good diet (good carbs, fruits and veggies, etc.) you are well covered from an injury perspective and really do not need supplements. Make sure you get enough protein after a workout (helps repair muscles)0 -
Thanks for the input! I've read all sorts of things, and heard all sorts of things. It is always really helpful to learn what personal experiences people have had.0
