Shaping up to Save the Day

Hey everyone,

I'm a pretty new member to this whole thing. Most of my cosplays are pretty superhero related. My favorites are my Spiderman and Redhood cosplays (I can link to them if anyone cares...but that's not the point)

I put on about 10lbs over the last few months bringing me from about 170 to about 180 (im 6ft)
Just enough to me to feel just a little self conscious whenever I put on the ol' spandex suit.

I've started paying more attention to what I eat (trying for about 1820 calories a day)
but I would really like to add some muscle and tone up a little.

I was just wondering if any of you super people out there have a good workout that you use to keep in shape for costumes and stuff. Right now I'm running a little bit of PHAT (what I can do at home with only two free weights) and I've done 2 years of Insanity (my current apartment is not one that makes that kind of cardio easy)

Really I just want to make sure I'm making the most of these workouts. I'm hoping to have a really really nice (sonju suit) Superior Spiderman suit for PortCon in June.

guys

help me out here

Honestly I just started incorporating regular strength training into my routine. I bought a home gym system that has a bench press, leg extension, lat pull bar, butterfly, vkr and squat station/military press on it. i'm hoping that helps tone what's there a bit more before my con in April (though I do cosplay as anime characters and my outfits aren't that tight--i'm just self-conscious about my legs in a skirt).
I don't follow a specific routine with it myself. I just put it on the heaviest weight I can manage and do as many reps as I can and go through the whole system about 4 times. on the last run through I try to increase the weight and still do as many reps as I can.

I would suggest weight lifting or resistance band exercises, as well as maybe some total body training (dailyburn.com had some great tabata exercises that were killer to me).
I'm sure youtube has plenty of options for workouts if you want to follow something specific. If you have access to talk with a trainer at a gym you could check into that as well. Or maybe a nutritionist could help with your goals and suggest specific macros you could hit to help you get there.

Sorry I'm not a lot of help. I lost 96 pounds on mostly cardio so when it comes to toning I'm still pretty much a newbie.
