So, just for the heck of it I tried doing a chin-up...

Like everyone else I have the goal of doing pullups/chinups and have never been able to in the past (I haven't even tried for a year or so). At the end of my workout today which consisted of squats/leg curls, I thought, "What the heck, I'll try one" knowing they were on my schedule later this week.

I did 2.75!!!! As I walked up to the bar I was thinking, "I hope no one is watching me" but after I finished I thought, "DID EVERYONE SEE THAT?"

Anyway, I'm feeling pretty cool right now and I know I won't look like a complete idiot when I have to do 5 sets of them on Friday!! It may be 5 sets of 1, but it's better than nothing!

Just for clarification - I just started 5/3/1 this week after doing SL for 2 months. :)

    ooh well jeal!

also I'm wondering about 5/3/1 too.. the idea of not squatting every time is a bit weird though!

Yeah, I was ready for a change! It was a little weird to not be stuck in the corner on the rack for my entire workout.

Wow, very impressed with almost 3 chin ups! I read somewhere recently that some women may just never ever be able to do an unassisted pull up. Ones with "shapely legs and bottoms" - I think that is a lovely way to say pear shaped! I may be one of them as I am somewhat of a bottom heavy hour glass although since I started lifting my back has got a little wider from the muscles so we shall see. Got to keep trying though!

wow nice...yes that is one of my goals too...

Might have to go try now just to see.

ETA: I used to be able to 7 when I was in my early 20's and in the military....that's why I have that goal...get back to that.
Always made me feel strong and rawry...hehe
  • That's awesome! Well done! :drinker:

It's one of my long-term goals as well but right now it's going to take a whiiiillleeee. For the life of me I still need an empty oly bar for the overhead press and even then I struggle... :blushing:

Before I had children I could do 3 pull-ups, and I weighed 170 pounds...I sometimes miss that woman! lol. Congrats on your HUGE accomplishment!

Wendy thanks for posting this it reminded me to get going on it.

So I have been trying them as often as I remember (when I go down stairs)

I did one straight armed chin up today....Yah

Yay! I can really only do 1-2 at a time (maybe the almost 3 was beginner's luck), but I'm doing them more frequently now so hopefully I can eventually do the 5x10. :noway:
