sooo i gave birth to my third child a few months ago, and it was an emergency c-section. I had my other two naturally so this is my first experience...and i am very unhappy to say the least with the after effect on my body. I know that i weigh more but i suddenly have this role type thing right above my scar(which is still bright red and painfull at times) Im not really sure why this is happening but i really hate it. i have never had a poochy stomach in my life, and all the sudden i have this ledge of belly fat....its honestly one of my main reasons why i want to loose weight, because i have a serious hatred for my new found role. i dont know if this is a common thing or what but man does it suck

This is very common. I never had a c-section but i had a surgery when i was 18 (now 33) that gave me a c-section like scar. i had and ovary and a 1/2 removed, so i have a hip bone to hip bone horizontal scar. It wasn't to bad until after I had my first child (i'm fertile with half an ovary, lol). I have this hang over of fat that won't go away. In clothes my stomach looks flat. Even if I take my top off it still looks ok. but let me untuck my skin roll that hangs over my scar,,,,,ewww, lol. I know mine is a bit of loose skin but it thick also so I know there is fat in their that i'm determined to burn away.
You might be totally different. It still has only been a few months. give it some time. clean eating, exercise, and crossing your fingers goes a long way :-) Until you get there just tuck it in your pants like alot of us do, lol.
PS maybe thats why they invented mom jeans :-P0 -

Your not alone. I had my daughter May 2011 and im still trying to get rid of that 'flap' Iv had endless physiotherapy and tried every kind of sit up known to man kind. The doctor has even told me - it's just one of those things that you'll never get rid of - safe to say I wasn't a happy bunny with him by this point. Iv now decided that this is just a part of me that's here to stay. (still pains me to say it) BUT you just have to take a second to look at what you have achieved and received. Give me my daughter and a saggy stomach over toned ab's any day of the week.0 -
thank you ladies....that made me feel so much better. I guess it will just try to get used to it, because i dont think i will ever have "washboard" abs to make it go away completely lol0

Oh I have it too , three C-sections.
Common names , the shelf the ledge the pouch the pooch, overhang , flababdab, slab I could go on.
it gets better as you get thinner but for many of us it will always be there unfortunately.
I am going to start seeing a massage therapist who does scar work, hoping that might help a bit.
One of the main reasons for it sticking around is internal adhesion, layers stuck to layers.
Give your self time and heal fully you will see a difference eventually I promise.
That said , I may never wear a bikini again but I carry my scars with pride because if I didn't have them(or my many stretch marks) I wouldn't have my beautiful amazing lovely boys.0 -
I had 2 C-sections.. and your stomach changes a lot!! it seems like it will never be the same again but after a while with diet and exercise you will see the changes, there is nothing that exercise cannot change.. except for stretch marks maybe.. but everything will start toning up for you.. I know woman that had C-sections and now they have a perfect abs!!!!!!! jealous!!! don't you worry all of us (C-section moms lol) have been there and know the feeling!!0
