Feeling Discouraged

Hey Ladies. I'm feeling rather discouraged today. Even though it's not my offical weigh-in day (I weigh in every two weeks instead of every week) I got on the scale kind of excited today as for the first time in over a year I was able to fit into several pairs of pants and had to go one more notch in on my belt.
But when I got on the scale it showed that I have actually gained 3 lbs!! :noway:
I know the whole muscle weighs more than fat thing but it's discouraging to see the numbers on the scale go up instead of down. Has anyone else experienced this and if so how did you deal with it??

My weight fluctuates by 3 lbs on an almost daily basis! Seriously! Not only is muscle more dense than fat, you also have to consider water weight. Water weight is especially relevant for women as our hormones cause us to retain significant amounts of water through various points in our cycle. Water weighs a lot! At certain points during the month I can retain as much as 4lbs of water. Plus, it's important to always weigh at the same time of day. I always weigh first thing after waking and going to the loo.
I'm sorry that the scale made you feel discouraged, but it's awesome that your clothes are fitting better! You must have lost some inches!0 -
I would rather have the clothes size go down than the scale. I haven't lost any lbs in a month but my clothes are getting baggy. Your doing great just give it more time. Water weight changes daily!0

Worry not! I felt the same way the other day (I've been stalled out in weight loss for about two weeks now). But, I had a conversation with one of my friends who is also trying to get healthier. The subject of weight came up and she told me she weighs about 220 (I'm currently at about 222) and we are the exact same height. The difference? She wears a size 22 and I wear a size 16! We were both astounded! Basically, we came to the realization that the number on the scale doesn't matter, it's how you feel and how your clothes fit. I lost about 8 lbs so far (which isn't that much really) but that put me back into my size 16's so i'm very happy that I don't have to go get more new clothes. Hang in there...If you feel good, the number is just a number.0
