Just finished, The Supreme Macaroni Company. The third and I think the final book in the Valentine Roncalli story. I liked the first two (Very Valentine and Brava Valentine but I was sorry I read the third it had a very sad conclusion.

So I am ready to tackle our February book. Lenore, did you like A Total Waste of Makeup?

Oh!, would love to read the Macaroni book, but am disappointed to hear it has a sad ending.

I, too, read A Total Waste of Makeup. It was a cute and quick read. I'm now reading a David Stone book which is a bit too violent, but it's all I have right now because I donated all of my paperbacks as part of my downsizing effort and I don't have a library membership in this county.

    Hi Diamond Gals,

M - I am so sorry I gave my opinion about Macaroni. You should find out what happens to Valentine. Don't let my low threshold for discomfort get in the way. I am reading the Feb. book and it is going quickly.

I started reading Kate Morton and became obsessed and have now read 3, As you know I am not the big mystery person. But read a book by Julia Spencer-Fleming and loved it. The main character is a Female Episcopal priest who is a former army helicopter pilot who does the detecting. It is a series.

I think next month is my turn. I know it is a little early but... Mary since you don't have access to the library I thought I would put out my March reading ideas. And give you time to find them in a used book store :flowerforyou: Lenore, I am sure they are available in the library but my first suggestion is popular and may be a bit of a wait.

!) Wild - From Lost to Found on the Pacific Coast Trail by Cheryl Strayed.
    OR
    2) Open House by Elizabeth Berg (She is kind of guilty pleasure of mine. She writes about women and is an easy read.) It is
    my other book club's selection/

    Ladies check them out.

    Have a good day.

I hadn't heard about Kate Morton before. The titles of her books sound intriguing. I'm going to check her out. I've read 3 of the Julia Spencer-Fleming books about the priest; I like them. I'm reading them in publication order so I can follow along with the friendship between her and the chief of police (unmarried woman; married man). I also found 2 Barbara Kingsolver books at the used book store the other day, so they are on my nightstand, too. Oh, and I want to see the movie Winter Tale. I wonder if that's based on a book?

I'll go by the trusty used book store tomorrow and check out the 2 titles you suggested.

    Happy V-day

Happy Valentine's Day Diamondettes. Have some dark chocolate! And if so inclined red wine.

I am going to read Julia Spencer-Fleming in order too. Yes, the friendship will be interesting to follow.

What Kingsolver books did you find? The Prodigal Summer is only novel I have not read and I found it at library sale! It goes on my nightstand. Finishing our Feb read and then will begin latest Nancy Horan book. Grandkids this weekend and close friends from Washington State visiting next week. Reading on back burner. Better not do that as I will be cooking on all burners.

You have a great book store in Petaluma.

    Great weekend.

I've picked up Wild. It looks really good; I'll hike vicariously through her experiences. I wish I could find something that would calm down the inflammation in my knees so I could actually hike again.

The Kingsolver books I found are Pigs in Heaven and the Bean Trees. I haven't started them yet. I'm still working on The Venetian Judgment, which is almost a waste of time but the author occasionally shows some sparks of creativity in his descriptions so I'm staying with it.

I am glad you found Wild. Hope Leonore has success...Then we can be ready with our March read :flowerforyou: My knees would not allow such a trek but love the idea of personal discovery.

You found two perfect books to start reading BK. Pigs in Heaven is the sequel to Bean Trees. I have not read them in 8+ yrs. and would again , if you want to in April. I just remember really liking Taylor Greer.

I found CAKE, light and fluffy. It was a good bedtime read...not too much to challenge. But it was fun. Are either of you going to read the sequel??

I hope you get a surprise ending in The Venetian Judgment and it's worth your time. I am reading the latest historical novel by Nancy Horan. Liked her first book about Frank Lloyd Wright. This one is about R.L. Stevenson. Want to finish the newest Anna Quindlan before Wild. (She is one of my favorites like BK)

I have a break before my Washington friends arrive tomorrow. Got to get organized after the little dynamos left the house :explode:

Have a good rest of the week DGals.

    Hi Diamond Gals,

I've been a little out of touch because I'm packing for the trip back to Florida. I'm flying out on Saturday to Ft Lauderdale, then I have to drive to St Pete to pick up my cat the next day.

Did everyone get a chance to find Wild? I did, and I think that's our March choice, unless someone was unable to find it.

February just flew by. Happy reading!
