I am 30 years old and feel like I am a teenager again with the acne going on on my face. Does anyone else have acne from working out and if so, how do/did you make it go away?

I totally get acne when I work out. I have super sensitive skin, plus I have PCOS which makes me somewhat prone to acne...and I'm 30 fricking 6. What has really helped me is to wash my face with something SUPER gentle after working out...like a neutragena face bar or something else that is really mild, preferably unscented etc. Just wash, pat dry and done. Since it's so dry in the winter time, I also have to take care to use a very gentle moisturizer (again hypoallergenic). I only use this at night and right after showers, not every time I wash my face. Keep in mind that acne (comedos) are not caused by a dirty face but rather by your sebaceous glands producing more sebum than can be expelled across the surface of your skin....thus clogged poors and pimples/blackheads. For a lot of people, working out impacts their hormone levels, which in turn increases the sebum production in their sebaceous glands. With time, this will level out for most people...so it should just be a temporary nuisance. You do not want to use anything that will dry out the surface of your skin because this will only cause the sebaceous glands to produce even more sebum to try to lubricate and protect your skin.

I had HUGE breakouts from 1) hormone changes after pregnancy 2) changes after I stopped nursing 3) working out!

I use this ClearProof set from Mary Kay - I know, I know. But it works way better than Pro-Active did and it's very gentle. Took about 2 weeks for it to clear out my skin and it's a great solution. I can get you some info if you are interested?
  • I have a big problem with stress acne. I have tried everything..proactive, mary kay, beauticontrol, avon, etc....The Stress Acne system from Neutrogena is the only thing that seems to help. I wash my face immediately after my workouts and every night before bed. It took a few weeks before I started to really see a difference but it's definitely improved.
