I am 11 years post op RNY. I have had nothing but complications from day one. I signed up for the surgery knowing there could be complications, I just didn't plan on having so many. I've had two leaks, two obstructions operated on, a revision, lysis of adhesion for a total of 13 abdominal surgeries over the past 11 years. I have also had a total of 20 plus endoscopies, numerous colonoscopies, and countless other tests. I lost my teeth because of getting sick so many times and now have and had to get a full set of dentures at the age of 35. I cannot absorb iron and require iron infusions at least 3 to 4 times a year. I also suffer from many other vitamin deficiencies.
And because of some of those complications I had to take massive doses of steroids to stay alive. Due to the steroids and the munchies they gave me, I regained 90 of the 140 pounds that I lost. I have been able to get most of them back off. It's been a struggle though! But I am alive and I can do it!!! Granted it is much slower the second time around, but my tool still works. So I'm living proof, if I can do it then anyone can!!!!!
Feel free to ask any question you may have about my journey!

  • Hi. I'm new here too. Just signed up tonight. Check my profile for my info (I'm a REALLY slooow typest!). I feel lost and alone and like a failure. I want to find myself again and be happy again. I need motivation. I'm hoping to find it here by meeting ppl who are like me. I need a friend and I'm ready to be a supportive one right back!
