Wow. Thanks for posting that. Very interesting! I never knew most of those. There's one interesting fact that I always think about is "fear not' appears in the bible 365 times. That's so powerful to me! :)

This was lots of fun! Thanks for sharing. I added some notes:

The Bible, the world's best-selling book, is also the world's most shoplifted book.

In the Navy, many chaplains insisted on putting 'property of USN' on the Bibles. I always asked for donations of Bibles so our sailors could have them without feeling the need to 'steal' the Bible...I felt an imperative to offer to give them away so they wouldn't have to 'steal' them. I always wondered why anyone would want to keep the Word of God from the hands of people needing it. :(

Job is the oldest book written in the Bible - it was written by an unknown Israelite around 1500 BC.

The Book of Job has a unique style with words not common to other Books of the Bible. Some think Job was a ancient Gentile and that a Hebrew wrote the story in 600 BC, perhaps transcribing the story from an earlier Arabic story. Regardless, it addresses the very important aspects of 'why bad things happen to good people' and God's self revelation clearly shows other things are going on besides just the matters on earth.

Nowhere in the Bible does it say there were three wise men - Matthew 2:1 only says: "Magi from the east came to Jerusalem" and later they present three gifts.

Magi means wise magician/astrologer, (we use mage in RPGs and magicians, which come from the word). Magi was most closely associated with Zoroaste religion. The number 'three' became associated with the gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. In fact, they probably had a huge entourage/caravan of people and support staff, since they traveled a fair distance. Other traditions add to the names (Caspar, Melchior and Belshazzar) to the story. Some traditions have as many as 12 kings represented from the east.

The word "trinity" is not mentioned in the Bible.
The word Trinity comes about because of the reference to three aspects of the one God--Creator/father; begotten Son and Spirit--hence, people began referring them as the Trinity as early as 170 AD (Tertullian) and then the Fourth Lateran Council established the Trinitarian aspects in their meeting. Even though it was not mentioned, there were three persons/one God mentioned.

Great stuff, Sharon. So much fun to discover. Thanks for sharing.
