I had a dream Saturday night that we didn't make it to the hospital and had an accidental home birth. I woke up from that dream at 1 a.m. Sunday morning and realized I was having contractions. I started timing them and woke my husband up about 6 a.m. to let him know what was going on, but that I wasn't sure if it was real yet. We had breakfast and went to the grocery (I waited in the car while he and my stepdaughter went in). We came home, watched a movie, had some lunch, played a game of Clue until Grace was picked up for her mother's baby shower about 12:30 p.m., and all the while I'm still timing contractions. They were getting more intense, so after Grace left for her mom's we went to our room and Mark coached me through. About 3 p.m. I thought we had better head toward the hospital. We got pups out to potty and dropped off a key for our dog sitter. We got to the hospital about 3:30 p.m. They didn't seem to think I was in labor. The check-in asked if I was there for a scheduled procedure. I said, no, I'm in labor. So they put me in triage and said oh you are leaking amniotic fluid, and wow, you're at 8 cms already! So they put me in delivery. It was less than two hours later that they put her on my chest and she started nursing! No drugs, and although the most painful thing I've ever done in my life, I'm glad we went that way.

She scored 9's on both APGARs and is doing really well. We came home last night.
