Effective exercises for healing diastasis recti?

Hello!
I have diastasis recti, a 5 cm gap in my transverse abdominal muscles which means no matter how much weight I loose I continue to have a flabby stomach! I've been doing some exercises but am frustrated by the lack of recovery.

Please share specific exercises and strategies that have worked for you to close the gap and firm up the tummy!

Thank you!!

I bought a Lindsey Brinn workout video that has a section for diastasis recti. It's great and really helped! I also love it because it not only strengthens your body, but also focuses on Keegan's and core muscles, which can be really weak after pregnancy and delivery. The DVD is boot camp 2 but you can also find some exercises for free on YouTube. Avoid crunches and planks and be patient!
  • Thank you! Great tip. It's wonderful to hear you found something that helped. Thank you for sharing! And a shout out for patience!

The single most effective exercise I have found for my DR is planks. Make sure you are doing them correctly - no droopy hips or butt in the air! Other good exercises include wall sits (90/90/90) & flutter kicks.

Hi! I just recently stumbled upon Bethany at fit2b. She offers safe exercises for diastasis and has a lot of information on her site.
  • Thank you, ladies! All great tips; I appreciate it!
