Future of Health

Here's the One Technology Mark Cuban Believes Will Get Us Out of Our Economic Funk

So what future technology is Mark Cuban most excited about?

That’s a question I recently asked him, and while I expected to hear something like 3D printing or robotics, Cuban was thinking bigger, instead pointing to an area that touches every one of us at some point in our lives: healthcare.

More specifically, he talked about the growing importance of personalized medicine. Cuban believes things are going to change so drastically in this area in the coming years, that by the time today’s children are in college, most will expect medicine and medical care to be highly tailored towards their needs, and will view things like today’s one-sized-fits-all, over the counter medicine as a quaint notion of a bygone era.

According to Cuban, “Personalized medicine will dramatically change health care, how we get health care, what we need, diagnostics, everything that we do. That to me will be the next earth-shattering impact on the world.”

And not only does Cuban think the earth-shattering impact of personalized medicine will change perceptions and expectations about about how medical care should be delivered, but will also have a fundamentally important role in righting this country’s economic ship.

“Long term,” said Cuban, “I would say personalized medicine is what going to be what gets this country out of this economic funk.”
