Hi everyone, thank you for letting me join your group. A little about myself. I just started attending the Daniel Plan small group at my church, I am reading the book, and am currently on page 100. I gained a lot of weight when I was pregnant with my daughter, and because of traumatic experiences, my weight became a part of my armor. Unhealthy eating, lazyiness, etc all became my coping mechanisms for my abusive marriage. Long story short, I have been divorced 3 years now, God has been healing me spiritually, mentally, emotionally, financially, etc, and now finally physically. I'm to the point where God is wanting me to work on that part of me, and it is a really scary step for me. I've always been the type to give up easily when things get hard. I've been on many diets, exercise programs and quit after 3 months. I don't cook, and I love the easy ways out. But God has been showing me that the easy ways out aren't always the best ways. He has something amazing for me, and I'm not going to get to that, unless I follow the plans he has for me. I'm 29 years old, and have a 10 year old daughter. I'm 5''8 and 248 lbs. My mother taught me unhealthy habits, and now I'm teaching my beautiful daughter. I have to change my unhealthy habits, and teach myself and my daughter new healthy Godly habits. Especially since it is just me and my daughter. As a single mom it is really hard to keep a balance in life. I work part time, go to school part time, my daughter has her activities, and then I still have to cook and clean, pay bills, etc. I really like the Daniel plan because it's not a diet. It is a total holistic way of living. It deals with everything, and teaches you a way to find balance in everything. It gives you a faith to depend on, so you don't have to depend on your willpower alone. It is just an amazing book. I am just starting, and reading over the food list, 60% of that stuff I have no idea what it is, or how to prepare it. I do think the hardest part for me will be the cooking and preparing. So if you have any tips for the newbie, feel free to chime in. Thank you for reading. I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday.
