Iso tonic exercise

So what is everybody's take on Iso tonice exercises? I have a desk job and I work grave yard so it is pretty easy for me to be lazy if I let myself. Here lately I have been trying to remind myself to clench my stomach muscles while filing or when I'm truly stuck at my desk for long periods of time to engage some muscle activity. Am I wasting my tiem adn energy or is there soemthign behind the theory of isotonic exercise?
